What I really would like to understand or help with is this issue of not being able to upgrade to a higher version. Cosmic is stuck with v1.13 and Kenster can't upgrade past v1.09. What is preventing an upgrade is baffling to say the least. I suppose I might have come close to this happening and maybe it had and I can't remember; but, I do recall one time things were so bad that:
* I uninstalled v1.0.
* Then I deleted all the bin and dbo files
* Then I made a backup on a CD of all the files left within the FPSC folder (custom stuff),
* then I deleted the folder completely - actually I shredded the files and deleted the folder.
* then I went into the windows registry and deleted everything that had to do with FPSC,TGC,The Game Creators. I made sure that I didn't delete any DBPro stuff, though
* then I re-installed FPSC v1.0
I have not had any real problems since. However, I now make it a practice to uninstall v1.0 and then add the newer update. I know it is pain and it might not have to be done, but that's my decision. You can imagine how many times I uninstall v1.0 since I have been testing the betas. I uninstall every time I want to update to a beta version. Then if I go back to a previous version, I will again uninstall v1.0.
I am not suggesting that a person does this but this is what I am now doing.
I had been self-employed for over 30 years. Then came forced retirement several years ago. Some of my contract work has always been beta testing. I was a beta tester and programmer for Bill Gates in the late 70s through the mid 80s. Didn't do much programming for him as this was long distance work and WAN wasn't as prevalent then as it is now. Anyway I just learned to try and keep things as clean as possible and in the beginning I wasn't doing that.
Sorry for the long post but sometimes I like to reminisce. It's the age you know.
