While testing my newest game, Acid Factory (available here[/shameless advertising]), I notice that when I die, I respawn at the closest checkpoint. This is not good in the case of Acid Factory, because you follow a very circular path and end up where you started. If you die in the beginning bit in the elevator shafts, you respawn at a checkpoint near you geographically, but not chronologically.

Is there a way to number checkpoints so it's not possible to skip huge chunks of game when you die?

I don't think you can do such a thing with checkpoints, but you could probably make your own with small objects and a bit of scripting...I'm not entirely sure how to go about this, but it's definitely worth testing.
