Anybody go to this gig, it was uber-mega-awesome .

They played a great setlist including dead boys poem, romanticide and ghost love score amongst others.

Here are a couple of pics I took from there:

Any nightwish fans here?

Oh man...I'm so jealous! I wanted to go to their concert in Illinois...but the town they are playing in is so bad, it's not worth risking my life to go see.

Nightwish is awesome...except, I do miss Tarja. I would kill to see them perform Planet Hell, Wish I had an angel, Over the hills and far away, Romantacide, The Siren...well...pretty much any of their songs lol

I've seen their concerts on youtube, and I even got the End of an Era DVD, but it still isn't the same as actually being there =P

Completely random side note, but Brixton is a pretty 'rough' area too

Well...maybe it's just me, but I'm not willing to die to go see them.

I've only been to 2 concerts in my life, both of which were "Weird Al" Yankovic.

Maybe one day, I can go see them if they are touring again, and they don't choose the same places to perform.

EDIT:
Here is their schedule for the USA.

Hmm...the only ones I'm close to are the one in Illinois, and maybe Kentucky...the one in Illinois is out.

It's really interesting to see her sing the old Tarja material live, okay the music was suited to Tarja's voice, but it still sounds really good.

I'm sure we can all agree that watching these guys live is an awesome experience. I'm also happy, because I'm going to see Kamelot at the end of the month.

Tarja's gone...I really enjoyed her as the vocalist. I'm not going to say she made Nightwish, but she definitely gave it some life.

Hm, well they're pretty good. Don't listen to it as much nowadays though.
But seriously, how are they live?
Apparently they are not touring with an orchestra (which by all means is understandable), so they are using playback for that? I think that's sort of false... and how do you know they aren't using playback for everything except maybe the singing then, while they're at it?

Well, its kind of easy to tell when you are there that it is not playback

Have some good songs, but overall I prefer Tarot. Male vocals by Marco are IMO just better than both Tarja and Anette...

And hell, you have reminded me of Samael and Saxon/Iced Earth gigs I've recently missed... :/

@Mnemonix: yeah, of course, I was kind of sarcastic on that last part. But the orchestral parts would have to be, unless they strip them out? (Of course, the earlier songs made use of no orchestra, I'm talking about the latest ones here from Once and Dark Passion Play, mainly).

Yes this is true, but this is also true of any band that uses an orchestra really, unless they tour exclusively with an orchestra. I believe Nightwish use the London Symphony Orchestra on the previous 2 albums.
