hi,
i wanted to re-texture a character, so i imported the the thug.X into milkshape then i exported as obj to uv mapper classic.i saved the model as obj and imported back to milkshape then i re-textured the bmp file and saved it as tga. when i added the texture to the character it looked fine i changed the thug fpe file so that it should work.
i then ran fpsc and put it in the game and the model was jumbled up and wierd.
i know i've done something wrong,
how do i re-texture properly? .
thanks

I am new to texturing these models too, but the simplest way that I have found to re-texture an existing entity is to open the DDS file, with a program such as photoshop, then change anything you desire, making sure that you keep everything where it is supposed to be (eyes, nose, mouth, etc.).

Give your new texture a specific name and save it as a DDS file then when you run fps creator, choose your character and apply the texture you made for it.

Hope that helps You can check out my threads to see what I have done, it may give you ideas.

Why did you re-UV map the model just to change the texture? Why did'nt you just make a clone of the texture and design your texture or layout using the cloned texture as your template.

you went to a whole lot of trouble for nothing and even chanced ruining the models animations for it.

Oops! even then im not even sure your allowed to change them are you? But anyways I forgot, chances are you did ruin the models animations. Milkshape can export models with animations, the uv mapper most likely does'nt, So when you save and export back to milkshape. guess what happens?

I hope that helps you in the future.

I did'nt realize where i was reading this. this thread will be locked soon........You asked your question in the wrong area.

(Edit) I'm wrong about two things here.... YOU CAN CHANGE the textures Nice to know....

This for is also questions about models.....I thought It was just a place to share your models....I did'nt read clear enough.

You can download DDS Converter, which will convert most any image type.

Some people say that I'm crazy... And I agree.
