Hey! I have 2 hopefully simple questions just related to modeling in general.

1. What's a good poly size for a character in a 3rd person game?
2. How exactly do you find the # of poly's in a model? My program says faces, edges, and points. (i know this is a nooby question )

1. Depends on the engine you are using, which one are you using?
2. The faces count would be the polygon count.

Thanks for the quick response! I'm using Dark GDK, and my current poly count is 243 which i believe is pretty low. But i have yet to do the head of my model.

And i just came across another question, why does converting my model to Subdivided not increase the face count? Because it looks much better as a subdivide.

why does converting my model to Subdivided not increase the face count? You might not of finallized the subdivision. I don't know what modeling package your using. But with truespace, which I use. You have to finalize it.
C++ is pretty powerful so you have a lot to work with as far as poly's go. And yes 243 poly's is very low.

FPS creators limit ofr character lies around 2-3000, Modelpack 22 characters have upt to 4500.
But I would say around 1000 for a start.
