I just made a really simple tank from scratch and by random. It has horrible graphics and no texture, but a very low polygon count. I'm going to try to get it FPSC ready and use it as an example for my Tankfest Minicontest. I'll post three pictures in AC3D (which totally rocks!!!)...First picture...

I apologize that you can't really see the outline of the tank or its edges. Other than that, how is it for 30 minutes work?

How are you building this? I don't mean to sound like bad sushi, but there is something really wrong with the geometry. Not the shape, but how your building it. Are you using planes???

Can you post up your file for me? I need to see what you've done and how to tell you to do better.

I use AC3D. I'll post the file later if you have something that can run it.

Can you give it to me in .3ds or .obj?

It seems like you made that box base out of plains. There should be an option to make a box primitive in AC3D, use that instead.

Sid, I might give it to you, but first, why do you need it? Just curious. And Alucard, I'll try what you said.

For one, I want to confirm you made this with planes, because I have never seen someone do this and I'd get a kick out of it (sorry ) And secondly, I want to show you the right way.

If you want collateral or something... fine. But trust me, I don't need to steal your model, if that's what your worried about

I did use planes. Yeah, I don't see why you would want to steal my tank. I'll give you the files later because I'm am still working on it.

Honestly, and no offense, it's not really "worth" stealing at the moment, needs a bit of improvement. And all Sid wants to do is look at how you built it and comment and help you thereafter. You need to trust people way more.

Eh, it's okay Alucard. He might have also wanted to know before he went through the pain of uploading it.

I guess, just sounded a bit like he accused you of trying to steal his model.

No, I didn't accuse him of trying to steal my model. Sorry guys. Here's the file...(and yes, I just didn't feel like giving you the model and uploading it LOL)

here is the version of your tank that i edited to make it less poly and look slightly better (look at what i did to get ideas in the future

P.S if you need any help with AC3D just drop me an e-mail or add me to MSN (e-mail is below)

I see that your tank is all in seperate objects to make it up.

Can you not extrude/add edges or add verts with AC3D? or is it you can only reshape standard primatives?

no ac3d has most functionality, i use to use' it when i first started, its a real kicker though trying to get used to max thereafter, it uses a completly different UI to most programs and it cannot render without POv ray' an external download, free of course.

Yeah, I just figured out how to make things a lot better. I'll work on the tank a bit more.

I'm doing some textures for my tank and extra detail (including spikes, OH YEAH!) so it'll be a little longer before I get it finished. Sorry for the wait, but I promise it'll be worth it.
