ok, I'm very much a newbie when it comes to programming, but I'm thinking that I may learn it easier, if I can try and recreate a game I've already played and loved.. in this case dopewars..

Is there some kind of resource that deals with text games, I dont want to see anything about 2d, 3d, because I'm not interested in those just yet, (1 step at a time, text, 2d, then 3d.. etc..) so right now i'm looking for text-game commands. right now i'm looking for something that will let me code in working money, and also some commands that will give me some user input on buying certain things, and sticking those things into an inventory..

also, is there an IRC channel in which newbie programmers can seek live 1 on 1 help? thanx in advance

Variables can store numbers, in your case money. It would look something like this. money=100. then to make your money go up for example:
if mouseclick()=1
inc money,10
endif
That means if you click the mouse your money will go up 10 dollars.
and now you can print your money to the screen with the print command
example
print money
and walah
(sorry this isn't very well said)

When you get stuck with dark basic, look at the poster of Brittany Spears on your wall, it helps, trust me...

thanx dark editor , that was the solution to the money buisness, I've posted the code I've made so far, if you could take a look at this line... "INPUT " is this correct?";answer".. for some reason I can only type numbers, in this spot I want to answer yes or no... any ideas? and also I'd like to get some inventory going so that the user can keep track of what he has bought so far..
