Hey everyone, I'm still kind of new to UV mapping, although I have come across a little snag. First of all, I am using Gamespace to make my 3d models, and was attempting to use lithunwrap for the uv maps.

My problem occurs when i make a uv map in lithunwrap from it's 3d model, and put it into a cube map instead of the normal one, then reload it into gamespace, I do not get the object properly textured.

My model is made with a bunch of primitives which were grouped together into one object. When I map it out some ways, it just textures each part with the whole texture not just the part of the texture it was supposed to use... I must be missing something BIG here, unless the grouping of objects could be the cause? Does anyone know the likely cause of this?

Thanks

Yeah, the grouping of objects is the cause. One UV map per object. I think attaching would work though, not sure. In max, there is a difference between grouping and attaching. A boolean would work too I suppose.

Ok, because i believe that the group option in gamespace is a boolean operation, or I should say it is called Union Object. I will search for other grouping options. The only other thing i really noticed was a magnetic tool... which I believe wouldn't work...

EDIT: Well, I tried glue as child, and a few others, but I still end up with uv maps which have one area designated for multiple parts of the object. Any other ways to get a proper UV map... there must be a way with gamespace to get the object as one object other than making a single model out of a extruded cube or other primitive?

Here is a picture of my issue if you don't understand. I can upload the model if someone can help with figuring this out. Thanks

Upload it for me in .obj if you can. Let me take a look at this. I'm having a hard time translating terminology and understanding the issue fully.

By the looks of your model with that texture on it. It looks like you did'nt save your model after UV mapping it.

I'd personally ditch the gamespace and download truespace 7.6 (it is free).
The workspace Uv editor is very good. In my opinion it is just as good as UUwrap if not better. And very easy to use. Sinse your already using gamespace, you should already know how to use the mapper it is just the same but far better.

Actually to anyone looking for a free UV mapper, I'd highly recommend TS 7.6, To those that are turned off by Truespace's icons. You can actually set the icons to menu's on the workspace side.

You may also want to check out this youtube site. It has all kinds of tutorials there (NOT all for TS)

Thanks all, sorry for not responding sooner, just life keeps you busy. Anyways... It appears that I just wasn't mapping properly, i seem to be getting it now. Only one question, since I texture my objects in DBP, will the uv mapping info stay with the object when exported as a .x and imported? or will it have issues? Thanks all again!
