This worked in 7.2:

...and now does not work in 7.3. If you go to this URL, you can see that the server ip is returned correctly:

http://lakehomegames.x10hosting.com/server.php

Here's the PHP I'm using for this test (it couldn't be simpler):

The error the server now sends back is 12157. Here's more information on this wininet error code:

....sooo, under 7.3 is DBPro's HTTP CONNECT now assuming it is going to be connecting to an HTTPS address, if so, there's no way to provide credentials.

Thanks!

I changed the address to google.com and got back data. Maybe this is a problem with your site?

The problem is it requests data via https even if you set it not to. Try it out on a site that does not have an SSL certificate issued by a trusted certificate authority at the same URL.

Check out my post here:

It failed after I chose to use port 80 using http connect, after I removed the trusted certificate entry for my own server from my home computer!

While you're in there fixing it, throw in an option to disable caching!!!

It looks like this is still an issue:

From my investigations and experimentation, it looks like this is indeed still an issue with the current version of DBP (7.5).
Could this Bug Report be more extensively re-tested, and removed as Rejected, as it is still a problem.
As mentioned by Jerico2day, please use a web URL address that doesn't work via SSL (as www.google.com does).

Bump
Could this please be re-categorized from Rejected and looked at for the 7.7 update that is expected soon?
FYI I have included a link to a very simple php script on my site that the devs can use to test (and confirm) that this is still a problem: http://www.geeksanon.com/test1.php?data=hello
