what are the best means to get a UV map to make a texture for a character
I have UVMapper but I have already made my character in ms3d and rigged and all and cant make UV now
how can I get a UV at this time?
and a good one preferably like the ones already provided with the models in which the arms and so on are separated from the body?
what do you gurus recomend?

Hi
I use UVMapper too
You need to export by milkshape in OBJ file
import in UVMapper ( It work only with OBJ format ) so you can separate the arms from body
so you save the " NEW " obj file ( this time with the right uv mapping ) and the texture map ( wich you can paintig with PS or Gimp or etc ) so import the obj file in Milksape texture it and you export in direct X for FPS C.

Another nice Tool is Lithuwrap it work with many format also ms3d
it can be better but I use a lot UVMapper

best

Yea is True, because milkshape cannot import Animations
for do it you need to use
Fragmotion and by it you import your model and export in MS3d this time with animations

I talk of DirectX naturally ,It cannot be import directly you need import by fragmotion and convert it in Msd format. So open it by milkshape and you can have your animation right
But for me you need to start again your model

I have made for now only one animated model (and many static)
Here my steps

1)Make my entity by Milkshape
2)Export it in OBJ format
3)Open it by UVMapper and adjust the uvmap and save model and texture map
4)Import the OBJ format in Milkshape
5)Give It the animation and textured map ,adjust by Photoshop
6)Export it in DirectX animated file

there!
"5)Give It the animation"
can you assign a animation from another character? or you have to do from zero?

Make a character from zero however is a very hard work .
is better and simple import a character already made, by fragmotion etc...,so you can delete the mesh ( remain the animated bones ) and you can make the new your character or apply another character already made ( I have downloaded a character by Turbosquid)
You need to read very right
" The Official Comunity Guide to FPS Creator "
see at page 139 anr find many tutorials in our Forum.
