That would be a great thing to do actually. I would love to see the relation ship between the solid gamer, and the solid developer.

Yea - that's something I hope the site achieves - gamers giving feedback to developers.

It's been a long time since there's been a post in this thread, so I'll just post a few updates:

- Developer profile system
- A few bug fixes
- Sorting games by genre
- Almost 40 games and projects
- Another article addition
- More to come

Um... when you say "any development tool", does that include the ancient Klik & Play?

yeah... after all these years I still have my disc and I still play with the program once in a while... x_x

In the beginning there was nothing. There'll be nothing in the end...

Sure, just file it under 'Other' when it asks for the game development tool.

The site is great, now all you need to do is advertise and get it to a wide audience.

Yea, if you get some advertising it would be great. Im loving it already though, I find it a great place to get my games uploaded to link my friends too. If I dont want to link them to a geeky dev forum, or our silly sgp home page.

Btw, Im up to 3 submissions now.

Yup, I signed-up and it's a handy little site and it's not as cluttered as GGE. I've got a few clicks and downloads.

@Punk13

Slightly off topic but you do realise that the name Zork has already been used as the title for one of the earliest text adventure games?

Game Torpedo/99999999999999999999999 > GGE^999999999999

GGE is horrible. I also posted my game there and some random idiot tried to add himself to the dev team. Don't get me started on the layout

Cheers C0wbox, I haven't really set a date for the beta to end - I suppose once there are no bug reports for a couple of months or so running.

Thanks for all your support, everyone!

I'm really happy to see this site take off! You should think about putting some ads on the sides to offset cost.

Thanks Sid - I've thought about putting ads on but concluded that the site still isn't busy enough. An alternative option I was contemplating was to have some sort of 'subscriptions' system which is completely optional and extends a few features such as the upload limit. However, I'll probably only attempt to offset the costs if the site becomes increasingly popular.

You could maybe offer publishing and project management systems eventually. Imagine it, if Game Torpedo could not only help promote your game but then publish it...

I still think you should build on the developer/player interaction by advertising to players of indie games as well as creators. Right now all you have is a bunch of developers trying to draw attention to their own games.

@NeX - Actual publishing would be great, but that's something to consider in the very distant future.

@ZekeGames - I'm not exactly sure where's the best place to start advertising for gamers though. Any suggestions?

I would start on forums already populated by people that like to play indie games - like the battle for wesnoth forums and other indie game forums. The players are already there - you just need to make it not look like spam and get them to check out your site.
There's that and good 'ol buying google ads.

Google Ads is certainly something to consider as a starting point - an initial investment could very well be worth it.

I also need to find an incentive for lurkers to actually join and participate in the community. I've thought through numerous different possibilities, one of them being a daily download limit for non-members. Of course, this sort of thing could easily be bypassed by clearing cookies and/or using a proxy. I would consider implementing a system like this if I also had bandwidth issues, which I don't at the moment.

TesNexus/Fallout3Nexus, both huge sites now, have a system where downloads bigger than a specific size require a free account and premium servers are available.

There is an article called 'Clicks/second' for which the link is broken (probably because the article name has a '/' in)

@Diggsey - Should be working now. Yeah, it seems as though the slash was making the name act like two separate queries.

Z_man have you fixed the issue on one Project submission? It has ' character in its name, therefore its not showing.

You mean the issue found several weeks ago? I'm fairly sure that was fixed, but I could be mistaken.

I've just reworked the whole URL generation system since it shouldn't have been allowing special characters in the URLs anyway. Tell me if it works for you now.

Great!

Allowing special characters seemed to be causing too many problems to be a viable option.

Overall ratings are basically just an average of all the votes, however, there needs to be at least three.
