I am, and it's to help bring this board out of the untalented, unintelligent, state it's in. It's hardly moderated and their are so many repeat threads and dumb questions threads like this one that, if I were mod, would be locked in a heart beat. As Alucard pointed out to me recently, practically all the talent, save three or four, have left this board. Frankly, I would leave too if I didn't care. But I love this community. It's just that this board is as redundant as geek culture and as 'how i mine 4 fish' as the FPS board. And I think that's the problem. FPS users are what, 13, 14? Younger? Can't spell? Don't know how to search? That time is over now.

Remember those old guys? They made epic renders, I think one of them was called DaVinci, and all they used was MS Paint. Sometimes it's just skill....

I'd hate to say it, But threads like this is why I do not visit/ post and share my work here as often anymore. Cucumber does have every right to post a request. Wether anyone helps him out or not is up to you. But it drives me nuts when I read through a post where people are asking for help and what do they get.... GOOGLE it? or either that, they get slammed for their post by being called unintelligent and what not.

Here's the thing, I have had dbpro for a few yrs now, I am a fair modeler but my coding skills to this day sucks. I know enough to get my stuff to render but I am no scientist when it comes to coding. So what is wrong with someone with the oppisite skills to make a request? It is funny to me cause it is a well known fact that one person alone simply can't everything by them selves and it makes no sense for people to assume that they should know how to. Yeah it is easy to do a search, but it is also extremely time consuming and there is nothing wrong with asking for help to perhaps save time.

Personally I think it is you people who post garbage like "DO A SEARCH" who really need to grow up. In all the forums and chat sites i have ever visited, These forums are the most unfriendly.
As the same with Sid, I too have though about not returning to these forums. Mainly because of stupid threads like this where people do nothing but get rude and tell the guy to do a search.

I do search and search and search.....myself and will say off hand that searching through these forums suck like hell. first off, there are more of these threads than useful ones thanks to you people, second the search engine also sucks bad enough as is.

Last I remember these ARE PUBLIC FORUMS, This is not a private site. So with all being said, Maybe you'se should think real hard about WHY people are leaving. Believe me, it is not because of these so called "stupid questions"

Here, have an award for the most idiotic post of the day!
If you want a model, make it yourself, that's how easy it is, it'll save you a whole lot of time and make you actually learn something (Oh no!) whilst doing it. Sure it may look like crap at first but in no time you'll have something rather cool.
And no the point of 3D Chat is not to post dumb questions which can be answered by a simple google search or a forum search (Contrary from popular belief), the point of the 3D Chat is (Or at least was) to have a place where users could post their 3D workings and have people comment on them.
As it is today it seems as the 3D Chat has been abandoned by moderators and the only one who seems to actually be here on a regular basis only handles the competitions, which obviously is quite sad. I've talked a bit over email with Sid about this but there really should be some sort of rule that blocks people from asking these kinds of questions that can be answered by simply looking at the stickies or doing a freaking google search! It's not even hard, it will most likely take less time than actually making a thread.
Also I think that the simple fact that I need to rant about this shows how much this board has deteriorated lately, as Sid mentioned it seems as most skilled loyal users who used to come to the 3D Chat has long since left and been replaced with people from the FPSC (Most likely) boards wanting to get their diapers changed over and over again. (Not saying there aren't skilled people on this board, there certainly are, but not as many as there have been)
And if there actually is a mod appointed to this board why not clean some things up? We sure could use it, think about it, when was the last time you saw a locked thread in these boards? Quite some time if you ask me.

Searching through these forums? What the crap are you talking about?, have you ever noticed the thing beside the integrated forum search? Yeah that is the google search, try it.
How is it not mature to try and help someone actually make the right decision in something? The fact is that it would take less time to go and google search and actually get an answer than to make a thread and wait for people to respond. There is a reason why everyone says search other than the apparent lazy'ness you seem to believe in.
Sure you're meant to be able to get help about 3D things in this forum, but when people ask the same question over and over and over again which can be answered by most likely just reading the stickies or again, searching it gets a bit old.
I like to think of this sort of as raising children, you need discipline.

Listen other asholes, im older than google, and im older than you here that you have all learnt most of your DBPro knowledge off my posts and code snippets here even though you dont remember or realise, i remember most of yours silly questions in these forums asking how to do stuff with DBpro.

Although, i dont need to explain you anything at all why i am posting this here, but just to entertain you. I googled, i searched this forum also.

Now, asking the question again.

As for myself, I probably do more searching and research then most people here so I don't need discipline. But one thing I have learned within my own life is that not all people have the same learning capablities so how do know he can even learn to model?

Eventually everyone will realize that its best just to ignore threads like this. Give the person the media they want, and they won't learn a thing and come back next week looking for something else for free. Tell the person where to look for something similar to what they want, and they'll whine and complain that they didn't get their way. Tell them to learn to model, and they'll come up with an excuse or disregard it completely. But if everyone ignores them, they'll bump it a few times, get fed up and leave.

CuCuMbEr you've been here for a while, just try to take a step back and think about what everyone is saying before you flip out next time.

Actually, i mentioned i will go to another route and told you people that im already done with this post earlier.
And as long as new asholes pop up and keep offending me with irrelevant stuff and trying to make me look guilty, ill be around to give you an answer.

Id just like to leave with my dignity and mention that Im working at the top of my year at one of Canada's top animation colleges. Furthermore I never asked for code. Ever. I made sure to specifically point out to any readers that I wasn't looking for any code at all in most cases, but just a point in the right direction. I also did a huge amount of searching and work on my own before ever considering posting.

Im sorry I missed your post mentioning you were going a different route, Im sorry we all ruined your day when we questioned your overwhelming intellect, and Im sorry you can't learn from your mistakes instead of throwing a tantrum. Goodluck though, hopefully your project of ripping media off of existing games and searching for someone to make whatever you can't rip for you works out.

P.S: I invite you to try and find a single post made by me whining or asking for something free.

I think everyone needs to let off some steam and stop insulting each other. Its 3d chat not 5 years old play group. The ops request is within the remit of the forum area. However I agree we have had a few too many of a late but lets not rip off his head for it please.

What really is needed is a model request forum and 3d chat forum. That way people can ask and not get killed for it and 3d forum can just be for show and tell.

I'll add something later on.

2. Free. You are asking someone to spend 2 or 3 weeks working on something for very little in return (see above). I'm not sure on the specifics of the time scale, but keep in mind that plenty of people here have day jobs. You know, working for a living?

3. Speed. You're assuming it's easy. No really, you are. By the fact you say "I want a bloke, animated and textured" you're trivialising the process - I'll switch it up for a little example here. I want a full accounting system for a finance customer which integrates into Excel. C'mon, I've told you what I want so I'm going to post 3 times a day asking where it is. If you are able to provide concept drawings, or even better, reference pics, I'm sure people would be more willing. Grabbing a screenie from an existing game and saying "do it like this" will just annoy people."

No one is forcing anyone to leave their daily jobs to spend 3 weeks on what i asked for.
If you can and want to, you will do it as a favor.
If you can not, thats okay. You dont need to post irrelevant stuff and prevent some other willing to help guys to answer.
But if you do post irrelevant stuff and put people on flame and make them look guilty, you are an idiot and an ashole.

Well I don't know what you like to watch in your spare time but I'm sure not showing my "asholes", neither do I have multiple ones.

If you want a model the best thing is usually to make it your self, seeing as you for one won't have to make these sort of threads that just annoy most people and that you can have way ore customization for how your model looks. Making it exactly how you want it.

I have actually a very active and social life, Am still recovering from good friday, its called a balance, hell i could go into now but am busy.

You use full punctuation and spell correctly, your smart enough to use synadroms to decoy your words be leaving vovels or the latter out, further reinforcing a good education /strict/ at periods/ but good problem solving.

Most importantly you ignored my first two posts, ethier out of ethier bliss or death is a sore topic,in the second post you only voiced on the topic of me denying your opinion, again stong chosen morals, good balance, Interesting really, I havn't met someone who falls into three seperate profiles,

I've been reading this thread and noticed some things. First, look at CuCuMBeR second post, did he get upset when people refered him to google? No. He only got upset when he was refered to as "unintelligent" and his question "stupid."

If people would have given better answers, he wouldn't have got upset. You could have even pointed out that asking for a model is frowed upon, but calling someone unintelligent doesn't help anyone.

Now I would have to say that you jumped a little fast CuCuMBeR, but in your defense, so did everyone else. I don't think Sid was trying to insult you, I think he was pointing out that a lot of people have been asking for free stuff lately, giving nothing in return.

Please, your one of the few users I respect(Others include Sid, and RUCCUS,) be the intelligent one. Don't continue name calling or defending yourself, it won't help you or prove anything. Besides, it doesn't matter what anyone else says.

CuCuMBeR, the main reason Sid was probably angry with you is that you came in here wanting a model for a project you have going that no one here has seen or seems to know about. Sure you might have a thread in the WIP board with pics of your game and stuff, but if you don't show people your project, how will someone know that what they make for you is going to be used? Give us some proof that your working on something and just don't have time to model a cockpit for your spaceship and I'm sure people will be more willing to help you out. I know that you've got your spaceship thing all figured out but just for future reference when you need something done, always come with something to show before you want someone to make you something for free.
