Dear all,

Just learning DBP and have made a simple box room type thing with a simple texture and light entity and have exported it in a .x format.

However, when I load it up through DBP the shapes and light is there, but no wall texture.

Does the .x format not hold textures?

If so, how do I do it then?

Many thanks.

T.

Make sure all of the textures are in the same folder as the .x file.

Also, unless you set the model and texture up a certain way, the object may not be textured automatically. You might have to use LOAD IMAGE and TEXTURE OBJECT to texture the object manually.

Isn't there an option on load object that loads a texture as well

Load Object Filename, Object Number, texture mode

Thats what my help files say....

I believe that just controls how the object is textured, some properties of it, etc:

Quote: "0-DBV1 legacy behaviour
1-DBPro : DBPRO default behaviour
2-Leave states alone to keep material/diffuse effects
3-Leave states alone to keep material/texture effects
4-Ensure object blends texture and diffuse at stage zero
5-Leave states alone to keep multi-material effects"

It also says:
Quote: "Be aware that when you load an object that has associated textures, you are handing over texture management to the engine which will attempt to save texture memory by re-using textures previously loaded from the same filename. To take over texture management, use LOAD IMAGE and TEXTURE OBJECT commands."

The UV map tells the program where to draw each part of the texture image onto the object. More here (shameless plug ).

Sorted.

Turns out, I can't use the default textures. My own shoddy ones did the trick.

thanks for the advice, all.
