Today I got my own copy of A-Sock-Ellipse NOW! (the cd with my game). It's really cool =) And I also got my new Western Digital 120GB Delux Edition harddrive =) Well, I'm about to go and get it now...

I don't mind but so you don't get missunderstood someday: A drive is a piece of hardware but a driver is the software needed for a piece of hardware to work with your OS. Just a tipp =)

yea i know i always get em mixed up, thanks. My drive got busted while i was palying diablo 2 on battle net.And i had to go for about 4 months with out one!! It was torture i couldnt even install my new win xp.

hmmm well back then all i could afoord was a 4x wich was disgusting. But now Im getting a 44x for 30$. Oh the one that broke was a 50x. Not that bad.

Having a too fast cdrom can damage your CDs. There are many that have experienced CDs exploding inside the drive, some have even experienced CDs flying out of the drive at a very high speed.

cool! Its like the Disc launcher from Tribes! But no that has never happened to me. I had the old needle kind, and when i put in a pretty scratched up cd the needle broke and i heard a strange buzing noise inside my drive. ANy way i am getting the laser kind.

Only problem with drives that sends the CDs flying can't be used anymore cause the whole front is ripped away =) I heard there where some new drive with an armored front...

30usd for a 44x CDROM drive, isnt that about £20?

ouch, expensive lol.

At my nearest store i baught an Artec 54x for £11.20, and a friend has one of the same make and has had it for years, no problems.

And for shattered and flying CDs, ive seen that alot lol. The worst was when I had a full mp3-disc in a drive at work, and half way through i started to hear strange scratching noises, so i stopped WMP and pressed eject. Then i heard a weired "struggling motor" type sound, then a glass shattering sound, then it ejected 100s of little pieces of my disc lol. I wouldn't mind, but it was the only copy of the disc i had, ohwell

yea i once lend a friend my copy of the sims and the next day he brings it back shattered in a plastic bag. dont worry we gave it a proper funeral.

Yay! I got my new HDD propperly installed now. It's really great =) Finally I can get my files in order. My old HDD was a mess. And I got the new one in NTFS instead of FAT32. I made a 10GB partition for when I buy myself a new Radeon card so I can make it my new C: with a fresh system (you should do that when you change from nVidia to ATI). And the rest I split up into 2 partitions. I wish my old HDD wasn't split up into so many partitions. Gonna split that one up into 2 later (2x40).

Yep. One of my 48x CDRWers bust. Replaced it last week with a 52x CDRW. Never seen any of them have problems with CDs.

thats a queation and half lol, i throw them in my cupboard ofcourse. I must have at least 10 hard drives in there (not big mind, the biggest is probably about 5 gigs).

You could sell it on ebay for some peanuts?
Keep it as a spare?

Or you could wrap it up and give it to someone as a birthday present?

Yes, you can have up to 4 IDE drives in your computer (that includes HDDs CD-ROMs etc). You just make sure they are configured for master/slave by adjusting the jumper(s). Seems like you don't know much about this so I suggest you ask someone who knows to come over to you and look at your hardware and help you out.
