I'm pretty sure Daarboven modeled this and you're taking credit for it

@Bendak11, don't assume the worst yet.
take a look at Daarboven's XM8 which is located in this thread: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=140089&b=24

with that said I will also like to say that Daarboven didn't make the only XM8 either, Airslide has one too.

I don't know. Not to imply anything, but the one by brandx96 looks way too close to daarboven's to not think it.

@brandx96, If it was created with blender by you, then that is some real skill, lets see your next model. bfore I say more. it should be of equal quality.

im telling you guys i made that xm8. its just another copy of darbovens or whatever i guess. but i took the time and patience to make that thing and if you dont want it, fine. im just saying that i dont pirate anyones work. ever. you know why? because i can just do it myself faster then it would take to pirate his. its simple, really. on youtube, it shows you axactly how to do the process, i just followed that and BAM there i have it. darboven or whats his name probably used the same process as i did.

To be honest, I can see a differance, look at the triggergaurds. Dar's is rounded, while brandx's is flatish, and has a thingy stickin out, dars also appears to be higher poly

You can look at the models from the renders that have been posted by both that they appear to be different. This could be the angle the blender model was rendered at or it could be that the model is a different mesh.

The comment about it looking alike is just plain silly as when to artists model the same item the goal is to make them look like the item they intended to model..

Brandx96- can you present a wireframe and a few different rendered angles?

I remember when I first joined these forums we had a bad problem with piracy and the crazy mob like witch hunts that occurred.. trust me guys you do not want that to happen now as it get's fairly nasty and in fact that was one of the causes that so many forum members of old pulled chocks and moved on from FPSC.

Retard? Seriously, it is ALMOST identical to Daarboven's, but if I've offended you, my most sincere of apologies...

I think it's a phenomenal model mate. Do not let anybody put you down. I advise all of you to stop picking on him NOW.

Cheers!!

I do not. It's a cardboard cutout, with a photo for a texture, badly considered geometry, and the barrel geometry is weird, it scales in and affects the rest of the model.

Do you now? Is that so? Well, why should we take your advice? You are not a mod, we don't take your word as law.

To the original poster. This is a good model for a first attempt, but you need to use multiple boxes and weld them together, rather than one piece of geometry.

No you don't. You can use one solid box or cylinder and sub divide or cut/slice to achieve what you want. YOu can also use Chamfer and bevel to help round out aspects of the models geometry.

This is looks more like a discussion if its a cardboard cutout model or not.

Sorry. My comment was poorly reasoned. I have been modeling nothing but guns for the past two years, so I know a fair amount about it, but in general you are correct. My technique for gun modeling is usually starting off with a single box, then extruding, scaling, adding more boxes and occasionally cylinders until I have the correct shape. Then I usually bevel a few areas.
