Hey, i had an idea of making a large guide to 3ds max, covering the basics, and popular tools, modelling techniques, and rendering tips, and compiling them into a document, but before i started, i just wanted to know your views on this, if its a good idea, or if its a complete waste of time, thanks.

Ye I think it is a good idea.

Maybe a quick summary on what to avoid, while working in 3Ds Max, when making game assets (Mesh smooth?).

Technical terms?

Include the ambient occlusion tutorial by you and Sid from the thread.

Oh, and how to create a biped skeleton from Bones.

make a contents page, it'll help you focus on certain topics,
and an bonus is that way all of us can contribute to the content. Sort of like a tutorial request list.

Really good idea, Ive been hounding around tutorials trying to think a way to en-corporate them together, you beat me to it, eh lazyness gets me know where

cheers cb

Me and some guys are currently discussing setting up a game dev wiki. You could always help with the 3DS Max section of the wiki if you like. It would be a lot easier for people to find the info they're after.

Asteric, I could submit plenty of things I've learned over the last 30 weeks of animation school. I like Little Bills idea of a wiki though.

It's now here: http://mantis3d.com/wiki/

I'm still learning the ins and outs of the wiki as I've never tried to set one up before, so if anyone has any knowledge of mediawiki, then please help.

Sid, that would be great if you could, very much appreciated, thanks

And by the looks of it, people favour the wiki idea, so ill opt for that, thanks!
