Hi,

This will sound stupid. but.. is it possible to export models to use in DBPRO using just Deled Lite (the free version)? Because, under the export menu, it only gives the option of exporting to "Deled Prefab" ..

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

to my knowledge the only models that can be used with DBP are .x and .3DS...

Yes you can, look under the plugins menu there is a direct x exporter there. Or you can go to the deled site and download the DBO exporter from there plugins area.

Export your scenes as a directX file and download Gile[s] for lightmapping.

You can get gile[s] from here.

The lightmapping in deled is really not that good, And does'nt work to well with DBPro. Not to mention it does'nt look to good either.

so as I understand, if I export in .x and import to gile[s] I can then export the model from gile[s] and use it along with the lightmapping in DBPro just fine?

Yes, the game creators used to sell gile[s] before they went freeware. it is very compatible.

nice, however, the problem I'm experiencing now is that it exports two models. One normal textured and one called 'model_lmap.x. I thought this could be the one that is actually lightmapped. However, when I load this one it actually comes out untextured.

Any ideas how to get the lights to work?

Which Gile[s] are you using 1 or 2 ?
I have both versions installed but I hav'nt used them yet myself, Normally I use Dark Lights for light mapping.

Another alternative that you can try is map-scape. Evolved wrote it using DBPro and is pretty much the same as cartography shop and has a good light mapper in it. you can get it from here.

im using 2.

but ok, maybe I'll give that a shot. Any idea why it would give me two different models though?

That's just the way they designed it, cartography shop does the same thing with the lightmaps, And I think 3dws as well. I think it is just something with x files, probably the fact that they did'nt support multiple textures in the old directX formats.

You'll find map-scape is a nice little program, It's the same as Cshop, so it is pretty easy to use. The lights in it look really good to except I think the directional lights are broke in it. they work, it is just it seems you can't set the direction it points. well it does'nt work for me anyway. other than that it works pretty good.
