Hi everyone
am srry if am in the wrong place just didn't know where to post this, I found a product by the game creators called Abyssal Engine, I didn't quite understand what does it do?

can it make FP or 3rdPerson shooters as easily as FPSC? or it's designed for different types of games? or is it for environment design only?

TY

1) It is not made by TGC, they are just a reseller.

2) From what I have seen, it makes RPG's. But who knows? A little tweaking could turn it into a FPS.

The Abyssal engine is exactly as it says it is (an ENGINE).
And any type of game can be created with it, so as long as you know how to program in C++, You have 3ds max and a team to make the games you want.

If your looking to make a quick game with this, it will not happen, this software is geared to more advanced programming and in fact will take a lot longer to make a game with it. This to me is the same thing as josh k's Game engine 2.0 but well different name, maker and what not.

I'm not sure what program this was written in, I suspect C++ though.
Where as the leadwerks game engine was writen with BlitzMax. (another BASIC programming language but with better features)

To be honest with you! I don't know where the best place for this type of question is either.

I'll leave it here for now.

I would really appreciate to see some example stuff you can write with Abyssal in C++.

To see how you do it, what commands you can use etc etc.

That's easy enough, just go here and d/l the tech demo, trial version and watch the videos. It should provide you with the info you need.

The abyssal engine does look promising. I would just like to see how it compares to some other products of the same price range by maybe a comparsion chart on their website.

The only thing about it that i'm not to keen about is that it seems to be mainly for use with 3ds max. I'm not about to put that kinda money on a modeling program.

all you need is a program that can at least export in .3ds format. you don't actually need 3DS max.
