hello everyone, pretty new here but really excited about learning.
grabbed the user made guide and been paging through the manual.
i've got a level made and need to start making the floors the same.

problem is, when i go to lay floor tile over old ones it does nothing.
if i delete those tiles the walls start to collapse in and trade the
remaining tiles.

do you have to do tiles first? or is there an easy way to
replace all the tiles in a room without messing up walls?

thanks!

There are a couple of things you need to know about floors, walls, and segments:

1. If you want to paint only the floors or walls, you need to click on Segments on the tool bar, and then click on either "Paint Only Walls" or "Paint Only Floors". This will allow you to either paint or remove just the wall or floor.

2. You cannot have a wall from one segment and a floor from a different segment in the same tile. FPSC just doesn't allow this to happen.

3. You CAN use a floor entity and a wall segment, or a wall entity and a floor segment, or a floor entity and a wall entity, in the same tile.

thanks for the reply.

but when i click on my new tile, say wood floor.
then paint only floors. then left click on some floor textures
that are mostly 'ground' texture it does nothing.

it would however paint over 'floor bathroom' tile.

when i select my wood floor, then select paint only floors,
then right click, it still deletes stuff. like if a stairway
is there , poof, or if a door is adjacent to the tile, poof.
so then i've got to re add all that stuff / put scripts back on it.

correction, you CAN use a floor segment and wall segment in the same tile: just make the floor, then simply click paint only walls and, from the outside, paint the wall of a different segment. it works for me
