Alright guys I have done some modeling in the past. Just the basics though. I know the basics but not formats and stuff relevant to FPSC x10.

When I was making a model for a mod, I was given a "key" polycount range. If my model was in that range I was good. It was a RTS so characters had to have a low poly count as lots of them would be on screen.

This led me to a few questions:

1)What is the best poly count for various stuff. Like a Min/Max for various categories such as weapons, characters, etc. Please keep in mind I want this to look nice to match the FPSC x10 standards.

2)What format should my models, animations and textures be in?

3) Can I make everything in Blender and Paints Shop Pro/Photoshop without having to convert it?

This has been posted millions of times before. It all depends on what system you are developing for and how good the computer running it is.

Well that only answers question 1 and could you at least give a range for a pc with around these specs or higher?

your forgetting about your target audience...

search the boards a bit thiers a huge range of PERSONAL viwes no-one has the exact answer, though on a modest pc 1-2k chracters, 100 small sceanery that can be scrutinized (walked up to) 30-40 not
medium 300-500 //none close 200
large upto 1k // none -700

thats quite general and based on my perception of a average engine, these are not set on stone and are not perfect, itsd my viwe.

Cheers cb

What format should my models, animations and textures be in?

Can I make everything in Blender and Paints Shop Pro/Photoshop without having to convert it?
