If I have a 2 files, file A and file B, if file A has the variable "progress#" and I use the #include command to include file B in my program, can I change the value of "progress#" in file B without having to create another variable named progress?

The question is a little confusing, but basically you'll have one variable named progress# that shared between every file in your program - that's unless it's local to a function of course.
