Hi everyone
am sure some had encountered this problem, when I put 2 different rooms on top of each other, the celing from the first room becomes the floor of the second and it becomes really annoying...

In future we need to know following

1. Version of FPSC so we can say if it has been fixed in newer versions
2. System Specs
3. What media are you using in this test

Please give that then maybe we can help easier. Also we have a bug support forum for a reason this fits there.

Also some versions of FPSC are meant to do this by default i havnt used FPSC X9 for ages so im not sure if it has been fixed yet.

It depends on what he meant by it someone had a thing where the floor of the top level was sticking down below where it should be was hard to tell what he meant without a better description.

Ok i'm not sure what your talking about but if your saying you want to paint two layers but the second layers floor blocks it then use the paint walls only feature.

Or you can use firma to make double side floors. maybe this will fix the problem.

@The Next: v1.09, I dunno if it has anything to do with thad but dual core 2GB of ram GeForce 8400 n I tried many media, WWII default rooms, rooms I made with Magic FPS all the same..

@The Next: say you have a two floor house, happens that the guest room in the first floor is under the bathroom in the second floor, I wanna separate the guest room's ceiling from the bathroom's floor..

@hockeykid: then the second layer's floor will be the first's ceiling..

@SanXL: for some reason FirmaV2 doesn't work on my PC (windows vista), it starts then the (stopped working) msg appears

Ok, its easy. Hit 'f' on your keyboard, then right click the floor segments you dont want.
It works every time!

@hockeykid: even though, if I pain the downstairs room (full room with floor and ceiling) and go up a level and paint (walls only) for the second room the upstairs room's floor will be the ceiling from the downstairs room..

Not if you hit the paint walls only so it won't paint the floor.

I just put an empty layer between and add one more set of stairs, But there's got to be a better way than that. the only other way I could think of is to edit the texture/model so that the top of the segment is different from the bottom. have you tried the paint outdoor/indoor buttons?

I understand what you are saying and I think the only way round this is to edit the floor model so that it has the floor texture on one side and the ceiling texture on the other. At least that is the way I have done it as I couldn't find any other way to do it. It takes longer to build a map but you don't always want the ceiling of one room to look like the floor of another.

As far as I can tell it isn't a bug.

Hmm it sounds like it may not be a bug but its something that should be changed IMO.

@hockeykid: but I want it to paint the floor, I don't think u quite get the problem
Quote: "say you have a two floor house, happens that the guest room in the first floor is under the bathroom in the second floor, I wanna separate the guest room's ceiling from the bathroom's floor.."

@Thraxas: that would be soo anoying.. oh and besides FirmaV2 doesn't work with me on Vista and the Idea of making them manually makes me wanna stop workin on my project and send it to the trash

I think I could make the ceiling from the lower room an entity and raise it to be exactly under the floor of the upper room, I'll give it a try and tell u how did it turn out... n plz any other ideas are welcome..

i just do what Dahjah mentioned, add an empty layer between floors
and put another stairway in.

but as Thraxas mentions, changing the texture on the bottom
of the tile would probably work better. since its loading less
objects?

will have to try his idea out
probably more time consuming but sounds like it could pay off.
