We only get a couple a year and they got straight in the bin.

Very bad business writing style. One of the biggest clues something is BS. Good business writers would say, "All participants must be 18 years of age or older to qualify." You always want to avoid negative terms in business correspondence -- "no", "not", "non", "un","dis", etc. unless absolutely necessary.

Also, why would a Euro Lotto pay out in American $?

and exactly 1,000,000 at that and another lottery that pays $50million.
Kinda unlikly that the price converts from € into exactly $50million.

Do some searching on Google and you will see this is a huge problem at the minute. Various emails with same wording are going round. Scam is same as nigerian letters one where you are asked for bank details and a 'small' amount of cash to cover admin costs. Unbelievably some people are taken in and have lost thousands. Why are people so gullible?

Hehe just read the Italian lottery didn't get a winner for something like 14 weeks and now somebody has just won Europe's biggest ever lottery jackpot

the reason people get taken in is they are greedy, I remember a documentary called "the real sting" where they showed a load of cons and ripoffs and how they worked and one of the guys they interviewed said something that seems right on the button when he was asked about the morality of what they did, he said "you can`t con an honest man", like these Nigerian scams, if you read them then are saying they have some surplus money from a contract or a dictators personal stash or something and they want your help to "lose" it and get the cash out of the country unseen, thats why they chose such a honest person as the reader of this secret email (LOL), of course some greedy gits fall for it then have the cheek to complain when they get ripped trying to steal money from the Nigerian government or whatever, (there isn`t any money but they don`t know that obviously or they wouldn`t have fallen for it), I mean, there they are trying to commit a crime, (steal funds) and they go to the police when their pockets get emptied, dorks, what I want to know is do any of them get arrested for attempted embezelment?, LOL.

Surely someone receiving that e-mail purporting to be from AOL would not take it seriously for more than two seconds!
