Can someone please tell me which one is better and has more features?

The 3D gamemaker of the X-quad editor?

Plus, does any of the two enables me to add dialogs for the users where they can choose the answer?

Thanks,
Crazymello.

the 3d game maker doesnt let you (I believe) do much at all. and anything that has a "random game feature" cant be too professional.
I'd go with xquad

If you just want to mess about, 3d Gamemaker is great...

If I were you, I'd make a game...

Z-Quad is kinda like an engine within an engine - you need DBPro to use it, so you need to be able to code, so it might not even be an option.

3D Gamemaker is really straightforward, it's aimed at kids more than anyone else, and wouldn't let you do any fancy dialogues.

Perhaps your best option is to get DBC or DBPro, and learn a bit of programming, I don't think you'll find a game creator program that will give you all the control you'd want without some programming.

Van B, i don't think you need DB to use X-quad. It says on the x-Quad page that you can use DB to further improve your games, but not that it requires DB for use.

Maybe, but that depends on what X-Quad can do. I was under the impression that X-Quad takes care of level layouts, effects like particle emitters, that sort of stuff - I don't know how it works with game logic, or any logic for that matter if it even does that.

I don't know if it has a script system that supports dialogues - or even if it has a script system.

Quote: "X-Quad Editor
X-Quad Editor is a visual 3D game creator. It works entirely stand-alone and can create full game EXE files without the need for any other applications. However if you do own DarkBASIC Professional, you can expand the game source engine as far as you like! Truly offering power to both beginner and advanced developers."

Hope that helps

It probably works in much the way that we all imagine, really it should only be a consideration for DBPro users, as there is no way on this earth that people are making games just with X-Quad, not unless it's mainly just exploration and basic puzzle solving.

3D Game Maker offers a lot less control, but it I think you can ultimately write a game with it that people (esp kids) might want to play.

Have you considered making 2D games Crazymello, there's a lot more options for making 2D games than 3D.

You can even have fake 3D with 2D games - you can render some 3D stuff and give the effect of it being 3D. It'd need to be Isometric, like Sonic 3D or Diablo, but it can be effective, especially as you'll have modern rendering techniques.

I'd probably recommend The Game Factory 2 for that, it's something like £30, get yourself a 3D modelling, animating and rendering tool and you can have some 3D looking 2D games. No coding. And a tool that has a lot of functionality, yet works with ease.

If you're going to make games with Flash, that will require writing Actionscript code. And if you're going to do that, I recommend getting the Flex SDK + FlashDevelop, which are both Free, and making flash games that way. No need to pay $600 :p

I bought x-quad some days ago and it is actually better than i tought. It reminds a lot of fps creators "point and click style".

The only way to script "in" x-quad is within the included source code. But you still can create fully simple games, i belive its a god tool for beginners.

Theres a simple downloadable demo at the TGC product site that was made in x-quad. Have a look

When they say that you can edit the source code, do they mean the actual X-Quad source code or just the source code of the games that you make with it?

X-quad would be perfect for quick development of larger games if you could customize the gui options and code to personalize it to your games needs.
