I was wondering for a while now.. is it possible to use GDK.Net with windows forms controls from Visual Studio? That would ease up the things allot. Can it be done? I read something about it here,
, but then i saw something on the forums about someone doing a GUI library and i kept wondering...

yes it is possible, although I havn't figured out how to make UserControls have "skinnable" backgrounds yet (due to transparency issues). There is also quite a bit of flickering when draging things around. I'm sure with more time I'd be able to come up with a back buffer to eleminate the flickering and skinning issues.

I'm thinking of getting DarkGDK.NET tomorrow, and work on my game's level editor in GDK.NET, while coding the standard game in GDK. Thanks for the info RanQor.

for a level editor type application, the winform gui will work perfect.

Yea the windows forms work on it.

However I dont like the using GDK .NET I find all the classes annoying, I rather make my own classes using the raw dark gdk commands. Also keyboard and some mouse input doesnt work when using windows form, this however can be fixed by writing your own class, which I have and it worked .

Since I am also making a level editor I considered .NET but went for C++ and used the windows api. Although more difficult, you get more power

Thanks guys! Tomorrow, after meeting with my game designer, I'm going to buy it! Question, can anyone show me a screenshot with your project and winforms? And can you use the designer, or will i just have to "code" the buttons? I did a crappy UI system in GDK, but it's nothing compared to winforms. Anyway, thanks for answering guys.

You can drag and drop buttons in C# and VB into a DarkGDK.NET program using the toolbox.
