Sorry but I dont see what you made. It looks like an image plane with texture on it. Post a shot of what your stading on instead of standing on what you made.

As far as the image shows it looks like a big box with texture on it but I may be wrong. If its the earth then great job but if its what you are standing on then like I said before, it looks like a box with texture. Sorry if I offended you, didnt mean to.

Yeah I kinda hit on that after the post. When you said meteor I initially thought you were standing on it. Figured the earth was a skybox image.

Great job by the way on the texture.

Wings is ok but if you like that type of program then Milkshape would be perfect and has a lot of export and import options. They are alike in many ways but yet so different like almost every program out there.

Wings is a great choice for the begginer that wants a free program.

Blender is in no way easy, actually no program out there is easy. Sure you can make a sphere or box in 1.2sec but thats not saying much for the modeler or the program. Now try making that single box into a high poly car or humanoid. Not easy in any program.

The trick is that some people can model better with hotkeys and others with tabs or tool bars. I am a toolbar with edit hotkeys kinda modeler. Blender is 90% hotkeys unless you want to search to find what you want thru 10 different drop down menus.
Go here for the hotkeys: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Hot_Keys
Here for tutorials:http://www.gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html

Blender is good, maybe better then 3ds Max but the interface just makes life horrible sometimes.

Wings 3d is simple as it gets.

How to spawn a cube: Right click on the 3d interface and click cube.

Wow! That was so hard!...

You're being arrogant. You take one look at a program's interface, decide that the program is absolutely crap and never look at it again.

Ever heard of google? Ever heard of the word "Tutorial"? Mixing those 2 can get some pretty nifty results.

I have to agree. Wings is very easy to use kinda like the Maya interface with rightclick menu. A program is only as good as the person trying to use it. Many 3d modeling programs fit different peoples styles so there will be no one perfect one but to say its crap means you are a crappy artist not willing to try it out. Personally I prefer other programs but Wings is deffinately NOT crap.

Umm, guys- can we start talking about what the thread's title actually implies we're supposed to be talking about:

how to make models and upload them to fps creator

Especially the second part.
I'm not sure how to get my 3Ds max models up and running with FPSC. Can anyone help me?

You have to export them in .x form so go get the panda exporter for max so they can be exported. Then get either Entity Workshop which is free or use a script already made and modify its contents to suit your needs. There are atleast 100 replies if you were to use the search function for what you are trying to do. First you need the .x exporter or use another program like truespace to export to .x or Milkshape which I find the easiest and most reliable.

yeah DonWON is right just use another program to import it and export it to .x file and do the fpe script and the texture and you get a perfectly good FPSC model and we were talking about uploading models to fpsc,we were talking about modeling programs

I don't see what is wrong with Photoshop CS2 or CS4 ?
I mean i use it for textures, and i am satisfied.
Maybe becouse Gimp is free? I don't love Gimp, actually i don't know how to work in it. I learned fotoshop a lot and it's ok for me.

SWokt0r you have to have a DDS texture(i reccomend making your texture in GIMP and importing it to paint.NET to get the DDS file) file,a Direct x file (x),and a FPE file, just look at other models of the same type's FPE
that works for me!

Blender? If so I have no idea.

As far as using GIMP, it has a dds plugin so you dont have to use anything else plus there are so many brushes and tools available for it that theres no need for anything else.

Aaargh! I've read all sorts of Blender tutorials, but it doesn't help! How can I make a model with Blender!!!? I mean... Can't I make models like with Quake 2 Modeller or Sketcup? I mean, I know how to use Quake 2 Modeller and Sketchup, but when I make the models FPSC ready, they won't be affected with lights... Or is that a problem with the .fpe file or texture?

My username is finnish, and it translated to english is: "CrazyIdiot" or something.

Here is a small list of 3D Applications:

3D Applications

You should note that Blender's interface is drastically changing with the latest release (2.5); bringing it in line with most of the mainstream apps out there.

Here is a small list of 2D Applications (when you're ready to texture):

2D Applications

There are also numerous tutorials around to help you get your work into FPSC, along with a few very nice tools (check the FPSC Tools Sticky at the top of this Board).

I have had this happen before, it goes with the whole buggy exporter thing.

If you are using blender and the model is turning inside out on export, then follow these steps.

1. go into edit mode
2. select all by pressing "A" once or twice
3. press "W" and select Flip Normals (this will make the model inside out)
4. Export the model again and put it in FPSC

This happen when I made a model with a good amount of Polies and was a bit big in size.

hey there fellow modelers and gamers... i good program that i have found is Zbrush 3dmax and blender, i suck at modeling, but getting better... trying to figure out how to place a biped into my model so i can use them in FPSC... if i can get it to work i will let all of you have some of my Hor-tass-tical models they include...
"Bello" fat jolly zombie with a leg as a weppon slow with lazy eyes...
"Fiz" Half mad man in a strait jacket... bonded with a cage over his head.
"Hell Bound" 6ft man discombobulated.
"Twitch" poor little drug abuser lost his lower half of his body from a car crash...
"Boil" working in a factory, the poor sole feel into the boiling pit.

i will have some pic up in time but for now let the imagination take you on a trip.

Truespace 7.6 is free (also for commercial use) and works fine with GIMP, CharacterFX and Milkshape (last one is not free but really low-cost) - try these also
