I've created my first decal (yay me!) but I'm having a bit of a problem. I want the decal to be vertical facing the player and use the arrows marker in the editor, but the decal is lying flat and the marker is the steam (funnel) marker. Attached is an image of the decal (yes I know it's rubbish) and what the marker looks like. How do I get a decal vertical and have the arrow marker (like you get when placing a fire decal).

Thanks.

open up the script and you have to change the 'run decal' number to 4 i believe.
Yay, i helped a mod!

To change the marker you need to direct the entity fpi to the model you wish to use. For instance the defualt fpsc markers are called particles.x this is the funnel you are getting, you can create your own markers to be any shape you want, or you could use markers from another decal, the markers are usually found in the same folder as the entity itself, not the decal folder.

I've looked in the "entitybank\generic\decals" where the fire decal is but the only model in there in the particle.x file which I'm guessing is the funnel marker. Where would the arrow marker be?

no no no.
Dont worry about that.
All you need to do is open up the decals SCRIPT and change the 'rundecal=x' number to either 4 or 6 i cant remember which.

I'm not wanting to run a ready-made one. I'm making one from scratch.

Ah, got you, thanks guys. Funny thing was that I was already running decal.fpi and it was face up. Testing it again now it works perfectly! Weird!

But I still can't get it to have the arrows in the editor instead of the funnel. Has anyone managed to do this before?

I've had the same problem and although I was able to get it vertical to the player, I still get the funnel which makes alignment tough with my model (computer screen). Hope someone has the answer.
