What a shame. "Another one bites the dust" as it were.

Good catch on the news!

This is sad news, But I figured it would end like this. I was just hoping to see version 8 before it did though. However it is still a great all around program, If people don't have and still want it, you'd better get it and back it up to cd. Very sad news indeed.

It doesn't say it is the end of the road, just that it's reducing investment. trueSpace is not going to disappear, in my opinion. It's a weapon in the fight against Google.

Yeah, I got an Email from them today about it (since I had bought it before it went free, I'm on their mailing list or something). That sucks, 'cause it was a really good software. I think they should release the source code for it, and let the large Truespace community continue it's development, instead of just ending it. That would absolutely obliterate Blender.

When a company stops supporting it's product, that's it for it. Unless they release the source code.

Sorry dude, but feature-wise I don't think any free modeling package will ever be able to compete with Blender. Sure, complain about its GUI, workflow, etc. all you want, but it has one hell of a toolset that most commercial apps can't compete with, let alone free apps.

Yeah, Blender may have more power than MAX, but it's not as 'stable'. I regularly accidentally press a button and the sky falls

blender is defiantly the best and hardest program to use. its actually easier for a beginner to pick up then some one using other programs because its so different it confuses you so much. (im referring to some one who uses a different program...)

Actually, I found it incredibly easy to figure out the UI after about five minutes of reading tuts. Within 3 days I might as well have had my brain plugged into the computer. I knew exactly what I was doing.

Microsoft's hand in the pot... It's really a shame, TrueSpace had quite a legacy:
