Hi all,

Even though this is my first post on the forum, I'm actually quite a regular viewer, and havn't had any problems in finding information on what I need until now.

My question is why doesn't dbSetShadowShading work when I put it on to my gpu rather than cpu. the cpu is horrible as the shadow shoots past everything, and i really would like nice looking shadows. I have looked at evolved shadows, and would prob be a good alternative but it requires a bit of work and understanding of the code (translating it from dbp to gdk and making sure it works).

I have gone absolutely nuts over this and if someone could help me with this problem i would be very grateful.

btw specs would prob be in handy
CPU: q6600 2.4ghz (quad core)
GPU: 8800gt Sli (185.85 driver)
RAM: 3gig

I don't think my hardware is the problem here

Oh and I have the lastest DarkGDK patch 7.3

thanks.

Hi!

first, use this command:
dbSetDisplayModeAntialias(1024, 768, 32, 1, 8, 0);

then you can use shadow shading like this:
dbSetShadowShadingOn(objID, -1, 800, 0);

this works fine in my app

It seems that the shader file 'stencilshadow.FX' must be in the project folder:

However my shadows become solid at certain positions , I show it in this little video:
