I havent modeled people in a while, so my memory has slipped on some areas, ive done my best to remember so far, but i cant remember a simple function which has had me at wits end,

i cant remember how to create another edge loop, googling has bore nothing, that helps me,

by this i mean another set of polygons by dividing the the original set by 2 so thier in half, every attempt i do of this i get anoying tris or each poly into quads 1-4 its stupid i know, but i've forgotten my workflow, its been a while, to say the least.

any help on the matter would be greatly appricated, as you can see by the time on the screenshot, am not just falling over and asking for your help, i have been trying.

cheers cb

When I used to use max I remember having to download a plugin in order to cut edge loops. The plugin was called: Meshtools. Had a bunch of different poly modeling tools that helped me out a lot, and cut production times in half.

@Josh: Max doesn't have a native edge-loop tool? That seems ridiculous. o.0

I believe you are looking for connect.

Go into edge mode. Select all the edges in the ring (i think there's a shortcut key for it), once all are selected right-click and select connect.

Here are two videos that will help (especially the part about shortkeys):

Phos:
The last Max I used was version 4 I believe, and they did not have that feature.

Neo:
If your working with a model under say 2k polys, that's a simple way to do it. But with more complex models, especially high poly organic models, creating edge loops is essential.

Yup, select your edges (or if ring or loop works, use that) and hit connect. In Max 2010, it's a lot easier, like the way Maya does it.

All you have to do is select one of the edges in the area that you want to create a loop and press ring on the right, then connect.

Those bibles seriously do nothing imo. They aren't really direct with what their talking about and it doesn't go into far enough description lol.

Once you select one edge, the ring button is over on the right under
selection:

I like Truespace's better, you select any point on an edge, then you select the next edge in the loop, then the angle of the new loop edge. Three clicks in the workspace and your done.

Lol yeah, editable mesh is older, but still has a few uses to it still. Stay in Editable Poly.
