Nintendo's given it to the wrong dev team, obviously. Samus is talking. Everything looks as though it's made out of plastic. Gameplay looks more advanced but only time will tell.

That's it, there is no longer a reason to own a Wii.

The only other game where the game was ruined by the character talking was Sonic. And that was an anthropomorphic hedgehog. I think Samus has far more scope for talking than other franchises: who says it's necessarily bad? (And it appears they're opening it up to a wider story, so hopefully the talking will push the series forward rather than soiling it)

The video quality is also terrible, so I wouldn't pre-judge its appearance too much.

EDIT: Team Ninja also have a good reputation for making solid, yet difficult/challenging games, so it sounds like the perfect fit in my opinion

You don't need a HD video stream to tell specular mapping has been turned up to 11 and so everything looks plastic. It's an awful style that should have been left behind in 1996 with Sonic the Hedgehog's isometric games.

Better quality.

I'll wait till it comes out to pass judgement. If they screw it up, they screw it up. If they don't, they don't.

I thought the same thing.

Though everything does look a little plasticy. Still looks good though.

It's the Wii... they're trying to make it look semi-modern / realistic. It always turns out looking shabby :\

So far a lot of great third party Nintendo-branded games were made. Mario Strikers and Punch-Out Wii by NextLevel Games in Vancouver, and the Metroid Prime trilogy by Retro Studios in Texas just to name a few. I'm sure Nintendo will play a big part of this game. Actually the game looks pretty cool

Yeah, I agree as well. Too much use of complementary colours.

I think the graphics are going to be revised before the release, though the game itself looks like it will be very cool. I see absolutely no reason why Samus shouldn't talk.

But as of now, I don't get any sense of realism looking at it, which I thought was what they were going for. The CGI looks excellent, but so what? I'm guess this will be a good game though, very good.

The graphics aren't bad, they're pretty good aside from some of the textures and lighting.

And the combat looks excellent.

Shoulda let Retro do it. It would have better graphics, be all first person, no talking!!!, and not retarded looking.

First off, the sound quality of that video sucked.

The graphics don't look that great, but the gameplay looks like it might be fun.

I thought it looked cool. I think its way to early to judge it seriously though.

Well I for one am interested in it whether the graphics look plastic or not. Call me old fashioned or something but gameplay has precedence over graphics... I thought you guys felt this way too until this thread.

The level of detail, shaders, etc. don't really matter. It's the style that counts. Style can give a game an atmosphere or feel as much as gameplay can. GTA:SA is a good example; it's quite a fun, crazy game and so the graphical style is very cartoony and simplistic. The Prime series had a solid style, too: an emphasis on high-poly (for the time) environments with simplistic textures and effects.

Excessive gloss and specular just looks... tacky.
