Could someone make me an extremely detailed, high-poly G36C that is professionally textured for free?

Just kidding. I was bored so I whipped this up in about an hour:

Nothing special, just thought maybe someone could use it. I might try texturing it later. I think it's around 1300 faces.

.X file is attached.

Yes, wireframe please... Looks ok, as said, the edges on the stock are a bit sharp.

Best.

the handle is a little bit too blocky, here take a look at my handle, it isnt perfect, but as you can see, i would rather (i bet u too) hold this one than urs, but to make it more round, add a few edges, polys and stuff and round it upp a bit.

hope it helps

Actually, most rifle handles arent that smooth, and do tend to be a bit blocky as you can see here http://www.impactguns.com/store/media/aac/g36.jpg

If you are using max, just increase the chamfer slightly and add a couple more segments.

I'm using Blender. I agree I should smooth the handle up a little bit. But like Asteric said, gun handles shouldn't be as smooth as the one you posted, but still thanks for the tip I'll fix that up later and re-upload it.

but the G3 generally has a smooth handle. (usually going from this to a circle) i also think your trigger is a little thick. (you should have looked for a more angled image of your gun before you posted so you could see things like this.

I have a G36C sitting in front of me and the trigger isn't too thick.

Do you mean trigger guard?

Oh ok, yeah I noticed that but I was being lazy. I'll fix that too in a little bit.

Wireframe.

I decided to make a SCAR. I got lazy at parts so this isn't a very good model.

Looks good, seems to be a few unneeded polies in the mesh, bit hard to explain, but you may already have it covered.

Yeah I was doing this late at night and I was tired, so I rushed through some parts. I just uploaded the .X for it if anyone wants it.

I think I'm going to make a pistol now.

Nice, clean topology, it's all ready and set. Just needs a texture!

I've started modeling in Silo instead of Blender, I like Silo 10X better. So far I've made a grenade (6 posts above), and a revolver.

Here's the revolver:

And of course, the .X is attached. I might try and texture all of these models later, but they'll end up looking like crap. But we all gotta start somewhere eh?

that's pretty impressive(if you want to start textureing start small with crates, barrels, glasses, cans, and work your way up)

I can easily texture barrels and boxes and simple objects like that.

I have problems with 2 things:

I don't know if I unwrap more complex objects like guns and such with box projections or seams.

And I don't know how to make realistic looking textures.

I use two things:

1.) My own photos
2.) cgtextures.com

I like to box map more complex objects, and then select individual parts and map them different ways (it's easy in Lithunwrap, I don't know about anything else). For example, if you have a basic .22, box map it, then cylinder map the barrel, and just do a little rearranging.

If I were to use an image, how would I texture the top and bottom and front and back if I only had a side view?

When I texture from my own photos, I just take pictures from all sides. Otherwise you'd need to do some editing to reconstruct what those sides would look like from the images you do have.

But I don't have a G36C or a Revolver, or basically any other object I would put into a game. And I also don't have Photoshop.

Here is a W.I.P. of a cannon I'm making. I've only spent around 15 minutes on it and I can't finish it seeing as it is getting too late.

I'll finish it tomorrow.

I added more to the cannon:

I'm purposely not putting any detail into this model because I think I might try and texture it.

Your SCAR has some mesh issues, you have a lot of unnecessary edges that you don't need, remember that if the surface is flat without any detail, you don't really need to add any edges to it, and that you can put details as separate meshes not directly connected to the mesh itself.
Quote: "And I don't know how to make realistic looking textures."

I generally just do it by hand, it tends to be pretty fun and makes you understand a lot about lightning and such, as with everything practice makes perfect.
