Greetings,
As the title states, this will now be my main shader W.I.P thread for the remainder of 09, and with this I bring you some Improved shaders. Below are some previews of my work, and I would just like to know two things:
*Would you pay for them
*How much would you pay?

[Model By Errant, Shader by me]

Please bear in mind that each of these shaders took a considerable time to develop, so dont go suggesting stupid prices...Donations are welcome though....

Feedback welcome

Nice shaders! Very nice!

But depends. Can we use those shaders on segments? Or on static entities?
If so, than i would say something like Ekipshi said. Maybe something more.

@Cheese Cake: The shaders shown so far are only for use on characters, since those are the shaders that work best in FPSC. In regards to object shaders, I shall most probably make some more, although I did release pretty much every shader under the sun in one of my several threads sometime ago. These shaders shown are new to the forum, and I believe Errant is the only user with a copy of the shader at the moment due to model testing.

Great job on these effects, I'm especially liking the shader on EAI's model.

I can't really tell there is a shader on the Swat guy from Errant... Others look good. I wouldn't pay for them though but only because I also know how to make them.

If you don't know how to make them then I would suggest buying them. They are fairly well shaders.

Dumb question; do shaders in FPSC only work with dynamic lighting? I.E., will normal/bump maps still appear/function in a level with static lights?

Kravenwolf They work fine fith static lights. The following pics are all static-only.

JoeGrizzly- here's some comparison pics between Coz's shader and the stock fastbone shader (which really isn't much of a schader other than it just changes the rendering pipeline- I think.

(Coz- hope you don't mind me posting images in your thread)

I also have another image of testing on a different character in conjunction with dll bloom but I won't display/hotlink it because it might border on AUP guidelines and I wouldn't want to offend the sort of innocent eyes which blush when seeing their sister's barbie Up to you if you want to post it.

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1496/eaifemalebasewip1.jpg

As testimonial I'd like to say that the shader I'm testing performs quite well. It's about the same speed or a little faster than the stock shaders (bumpbone.fx, etc.) and much faster than bumpcubereflectalpha.fx.

The spec is still a little strong for my taste but I might be missing how to moderate spec value. Coz, is spec moderated through an alpha channel in the normalmap or something? That's something I haven't tries yet. Simply having a _S map present doesn't seem to have any change. I would like the clothing and skin more matte but something like the goggle lenses with very high spec. Is that possible with the shader I am testing? If so, I think it would make the shader nearly perfect for a wide variety of characters.

@Errant AI: No problem! Anything to showcase my work on your great looking models.
Quote: "spec moderated through an alpha channel in the normalmap "

Correct, although If you want a specific value I can always change the amount of Spec in the code, So if you have a particular value/amount in mind, let me know. Regarding the matte look, this can be achived by softening the Normal map, although as far as I can tell from previous tests, It's not possible to apply to different shader styles to one particular model (This is down to the same issue I encountered when making weapon shaders). So the conclusion is, If you require a lower spec value in a quick time frame, let me know via email and Ill get a copy over to you.
Moving on to your female base model (which looks very nice in both senses of the word), Are you thinking as using that as a base for my body request that I mentioned in a earlier email to you, because that would be sweet.

Stay tuned for more releases

Any change to have a goodlooking one for the Lowpoly Modelpack 4 Chars. I`ve been working hours on the effects but I still get ugly seeable polys.

I would love to see something usefull for these. I can`t use unshaded Characters in my environement.

Wolf, thats probably because they are low poly. So it will be hard to get a perfect shader for it.

@Wolf- You would likely need to take the MP4 models into an appropriate 3D application and bake a normalmap to avoid the wierd artifacts you get by filter converting a bumpmap to a normalmap but you may have extra hurdles because most of those characters have mirrored UVs.

@CoZ- Yep. That's the model I'll be starting with (Same model I started the soldier with lol). I tried adding the spec as an alpha channel but I didn't notice any difference. Do you think I am doing something wrong?

@JoeGrizzly: Yeah! Sadly I haven`t had any good results at all, so the enemys in my game will be... less graphically.

@EAI: Thanks for the Info, but me and a modeling programm is like Chuck Norris and good Movies. It doesn`t fit.

Wow, I was thinking around $4 to $5 each.
So, like $5 for individual shaders and maybe a pack of 5 for $20.

lol, do the math...

Bad Movie * Old = Chuck Norris

What about it is right.

That's because he was needed back at the nursing home because it was his turn to call the BINGO numbers out.

Chuck Norris named his TV series Walker, Texas Ranger because he was too old to run.

Oh man Red eye that screen is great!

But CoZ the shaders you showed in these threads.
Are they also usable on static objects? Or doesnt FPSC render static objects with a shader?

Cause the shaders look great! But it wouldnt be very catchy if only characters had shaders and the rest of the objects and level dont.

Of course its better to have something and nothing.

I doubt it, sadly because of DarkLights, static shaders don't work too well...

It's a real shame, I'd pay for a static shader for sure...

That is a cool picture.
I like the 300 videos floating around on the tube.
This 300 video is about the best editing work I have seen for awhile.

Back on topic: When can we expect the release of some of the shaders?

Shaders make models look shiny, in layman terms. They're used to emphasise detail on objects.

The shaders are the bomb CoZ! Before today I wouldn't pay anything for them since I only owned x10, but I just got the Bonanza so now I can. I would probably pay 6-8 USD for them, each. It'd be cool to release them as a pack, with a minor discount.
