Dark GDK / how hard is the DBC - DGDK transfer?

Im interested in learning some C++ but im not ready to give up DBC, is DGDK a happy medium?

Dark GDK is a collection of game-related functions, which must be incorporated in a general C++ program structure. Studying the DGDK functions will not teach you anything about how to build a C++ program. It is advisable to get a solid knowledge of C++ language basics before attempting to make a game with Dark GDK. Although, attempting to make a simple game can make the C++ learning more enjoyable.

There are links to resources for beginners to C++ on Microsoft's site aswell, where you can download DarkGDK from(not sure if they have the latest verion or not)..

They actually have an entire book in PDF form that you can download and read aswell, its one of those "C++ for Beginners" books, and not a bad read, although quite long

You should be able to find a link to it from somewhere in the Visual C++ section of the MS site.
