Hi all.

I recently created a program (my first program with buttons ) that takes screenshots. I wanted to share it with you guys. Its pretty simple. The button effect with the line to the right wasn't supposed to be there but I kind of like it. It saves the screenshot to a JPG. After you take a screenshot you can press the load screenshot button to see a (very bad quality) preview of the screenshot you just took. Sorry about the bad quality I had to re-size it so if would fit. (If you have a way to make it better quality I'm all ears.)

Haha... kinda epic.

However, I did not really understand, what your program does - if you have to hit the button to create a screenshot, the programm will most certainly be in front of all other open windows, so you would take a screenshot of the program itself, and all screenshots would look just like the one you have posted there...
I probably just got something wrong, right?

It minimizes and then takes a screenshot.

Pretty useless, it is good for a first app tho. But if you are gonna go with Applications, i really don't suggest DBPro, if your application does not use 3d rendering.

Who would pay for an app that takes a screenshot, anyway?

I don't think anyone would. Don't know where you got the paying for it part. The one I made is free. I wouldn't ever try selling that lol.

Looks great for a first program! It's good that you're getting the basics down-- I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next .

Ok. This is a question that might help a lot of people. I posted this on another forum and I don't think any people have DarkBASIC on that forum. When they tried to use ZScreenie it gave them a error message. I attached the image. The first is just because of not having DirectX but the second one everyone seems to be having (except for people with DarkBASIC ). Must I attach the Dll? Or what is causing this? Any help would be nice.

Why don't you have the buttons pasted onto the desktop and just hide them quickly to take the screenshot. Rather than the whole app, this way you could be able to judge when you want to take a screenshot.
Maybe have an option to upload straight to a web server, different file formats and the option to run minimized in the taskbar with a shortcut to take a screenshot.

It is pretty pointless now but you could extend it so it useful rather than a burden.

about the error messages, my guess would be that last time you compiled you used the debug button or something, and then you gave the debug version to other people that don't have that dll. and if that isn't it, uplaod the dll i think.

No-one, but then again - who would pay for a simple space invaders game, or pong? No-one. You've got to start somewhere and perhaps you should help him with constructive comments rather than slagging him off at the first possible opportunity.

Perhaps you could experiment with some of the 3D effects, like texturing a cube with the screenshots you just took.

Good luck
