Hello forum people from the interwebs. i am working on Reality-Tech which is a sci-fi Mass effect/Half-Life style game, and i need help with the making characters and guns. the main things that i need help with are as i said in the title, texturing and animating. i wont need as much help with the modelling unless it's something too advanced.

[EDIT]
I am anly looking for animators, maybe texturers and now Concept Artists

i need concept artists the most righte now

and i would LOVE for someone to help me full time (no pay though. only a share of whatever money comes from the game)

Thanks.

Could you tell us a bit more about the project? Maybe concept art, storyline, what kinds of characters, etc. I´m sure there will be some people around here who are interested

I have modded Halo 1 PC a while ago (Microsoft announced it's legal now), this gave me half decent skills at texturing, skinning and I'm great with modeling, though I don't know about animating. I'll be happy to help for FREE! I've really got nothing better to do.

Okay...i don't have much about R-T (Reality-Tech) but i'll show you the basic story (Note: the story will go through changes)and pictures of things that will hopefully give you an idea of what it's like.

Story edited

Story:

On Monday, July 20, 2023, leaders of four different countries, the United States, Japan, Russia and France met in sub space of Earth to discuss the future of all their people. After hours of argument and finally agreement they declaired to create an indipendent government which would keep the four countries in check and have mass production of the technology that would be used so that they could work on what they want, when they want and how they want.

17 years later, in one of their labs on the Moon a man named ,Conrad (name) was taken into Bio Division 3, where two scientists pushed him half uncancious to a seargical room. he was strapped down by one man while the other one collected something. the man came back with two syringes, one that was transparent blue with a slight glow and the other clear. the first scientist injected the clear syringw into his arm. a sharp pain pierced all of his muscles. then the second scientist injected the blue syringe into his neck. a numming gradually built up in his head. as he started to blackout, a woman with long brown hair and rugged close appeared behind the two men though they didn't seem to notice.

A weak later Conrad wakes up in a bunk bed with no one around. a second later a voice on an intercom says, "Subjects 5,6,7 report to the training loby." Conrad looked at his arm and found the number 6 followed by a bar code tattood on him. confused, he walked out of the room and was greeted by two armored soldiers.

well thats the intro anyways, but the rest of the game will consist of trying to remember your past, first fighting the rebellion and other countries(still thinking about that one though)and then joining the rebels and fighting R-T, constent physics puzzles and tough bosses. and all of that would be in R-T labs, factories, government capitols or in dazzling sci-fi urban environments.

oh and deltamanx, could you send me an email with some of your work.

also here is a picture of two guns that someone did for one of their own projects. i don't want to steal their creation but this gives a good example of how my game will be styled. also for the style i would like things to be sci fi but have scratches and things that make it seem used.

Thanks

Don´t take this the wrong way; I´m only trying to be helpful alright . But I think your game is too ambitious. Everyone wants to make the best game on the forum or at least a really good one but the amount of work involved can be overwhelming. That is why so many projects are cancelled; they´re simply too ambitious, even when it seems like a simple game. Trust me, I know. The game I´m working on, I had that very problem even though I thought it was simple and achievable. I haven´t cancelled it because I´ve made too many good custom assets to let it go to waste but there´s a reason all the modern games take around 3 years to make with a team of 50+ professionals with budgets in the millions.

I recommend keeping the game short with simple, clear and straightforward objectives; destroy this, disable that, kill him, etc. It might sound boring but you´re morel likely to finish it. You´re better off making a simple game and expanding it rather than the other way around. Everybody wants to make the next big game but very few end up finishing it. And game ideas that start with no concept art or anything already made to show the person´s seriousness really are a dime in a dozen on these forums.

I honestly don´t mean to discourage you though and if you do proceed, then I really do wish you the best of luck because I wish more people would make X10 games Plus it seems you already have an artist so you´re off to a good start. But I would simplify the game a lot...

I understand what your saying Jingle Fett, but i actually don't plan on making the full version of the game in fpsc X10, i'm going to make it in Leadwerks engine. the reason i'm making it in fpsc first is so that i will have an out-line for the game, which as you said, all you do is destroy this, disable that etc. also a lot of what i said in the story summery will be in cut-scenes so it won't be that complicated (unless i can't find any animators to make the cut-scenes). thanks anyways

oh and i'll try to draw the charcters in the game so all of you will know what they look like and hopefully create them for me.

Oh, that´s a pretty good plan. If you´re doing it in Leadwerks though, keep in mind that you´ll need programmers too. I think there are a few people using Leadwerks in the community forum so if you need them you could try asking there. Are you planning on selling the game?

Well, if i can get R-T up and running in Leadwerks, then i hope to sell it, and yes i do plan on getting programmers and maybe a whole team of people

oh and since you're here in the interwebs jingle fett, i was wondering if that project you have, Hotel Kuat, is being made just by you or is their other people involved??

Right now it´s only me...Having more people isn´t the problem as much as it is the fact that it´s the type of game that would require a huge budget, etc. in order for it to come out the way I intend.
My dad has some contacts which I hope to exploit.. So in the mean time I´ll just continue to make as much of the game as possible to make it easier to pitch to possible companies. Show them that I am in fact serious about it and what not and that they´d have a lot of their work already done.
There´s also the fact that next year I´ll be taking a class on how to make games with the Unity engine, with some teachers that I´ve known for a while and who are very good. Depending on how much I learn, I might be able to make HK in Unity instead, with the game mechanics I´d like to have in it.

There is another project I´m starting which will be a serious no-nonsense game to be made in X10 but it´s still in the planning stages...
If you´d like to see some of my work, check out the Portfolio and Photo sections of my website. The model made in ZBrush is a high poly version of one of the many enemies the player will face in HK.

Best of luck with your project.

If your using Leadwerks then you'll need some dedicated AI programmers as there is none out of the box.

Look forward to seeing the X10 version.

okay outlaw241, i have leadwerks (big problam though, will explain below) but i'm still learning it my self so unless you're a super noob as i'm a noob i can't help you. the other thing which is a huge set back on both X10 version and leadwerks version is that my compruter had a major crash and lost everything from my funny pictures folder all the way up to the operating system. so i had to re-install everything except leadwerks because my account information was in an email that i didn't put on paper. and now FPSC X10 isn't working for no apparent reason so i can only make it in X9 *sigh* super sad face

and to Asteric, i'll email you

I've never had any problems like that for compiling, but it looks like you should re-install your software. and i'm using windows vista for X10, but the weird part is it was working fine but then i tried to test a game it crashed

I can try to work up some concepts for you. I'll email you later with some examples of my work. It's not the best, and I'm not too good at environments right now. But gradually getting better at it, and I'd be happy to help. I'll email details and such.
