Didn't know why you didn't google it. That's usually the first thing I do.

Watch and read a whole bunch of Blender tutorials and you'll learn it without any issues, hell I haven't used Blender for over a year and I still remember mostly how to do things.

The "game engine" isn't really meant for fully-fledged games, I believe development on it slowed/stopped some time ago. It is mostly used for physics simulations and the like.

On the contrary, development on the Game Engine has been really active with the latest releases. They are working on integrating it with Crystal Space, a graphics SDK.

This open-source game was made in the Blender Game Engine: http://www.yofrankie.org/

As for your question, the Blender website has tons of tutorials on it... Those plus just messing around on my own are what got me where I am today.

I haven't even used Blender for several months since I've been learning Maya for college. Guess I'll keep my mouth shut.

The crystal space implementation with Blender won't be going ahead. I was talking to Campbell Barton, the guy who is developing the BGE, last October at a pub in Melbourne, and he said that the implementation of Crystal Space just isn't worth it. The standards that the Blender team use for code are way higher than that of Crystal Space, so Campbell and co are just going to develop the engine internally. It's really quite cool, and you can do a LOT with it. The easy implementation of physics is cool.

Azunaki - Give the Forum Police thing a rest. As it turns out this is the most appropriate board to ask any blender related question.

you will find more Blender users here than in any other board.

By following tutorials you will learn the shortcuts much easier. As I've already said right about two times in this thread. And besides Blender Noob to Pro does teach you the shortcuts.

Yes, I know. Just making an obscure reference there.

I believe there is a list of hotkeys in the noob-to-pro wikibook, or else in the Blender manual on the main site.

Some basic shortcut keys that you should know are:

a - toggle selection of all on/off
s - scale selection can be modified by an axis by following up with x,y, or z keys
r - rotate selection can be modified by an axis same as scale
g - grab/move selection can be modified by an axis same as scale
x - delete selection
f - fill in an edge or face depending on selected vertices
shift d - duplicate selection
alt m - merge vertices
tab - toggle edit mode/object mode
space bar - brings up a quick menu for adding things/editing things/selecting things
w and ctrl e - brings up more advanced editing options menus
numpad keys - changes the view port views 7 top down, 1 front, 3 side, 0 camera
f12 - render current frame

anything else you need can be found in the menus and will list their shortcuts right there beside them. Somethings are just better to use the mouse and go through the menus.

Seriously though, do the tutorials you will learn all of the main shortcuts within the first couple of lessons AND you will retain them better by using them than trying to memorize a list.

biggadd i was saying to go to a different forum, not trying to be "police" like it apparently came off as. because yes out of the areas this is probably the best place because blender is both a game development and modeling program.

but at the same time its still a 3D modeling area. so there really isn't going to be as good of help as there would at a development forum. (which is what i was saying to do) again i wasn't trying to come of as being police.

Depends if you go to a DarkBASIC forum or a Blender forum though. See this is not a Blender forum, so coming here and asking for help anywhere but the 3D area is useless, we'd just have posts telling him to post it here. Developers here mostly use DBPro or GDK, modellers here might use Blender, but probably only a handful of people here out of tens of thousands actually do any coding in Blender.

So really the appropriate forum section is on a different website .

Set the character to be the parent of the camera (CTRL-P), then the camera will always be positioned relative to the character.
