We ordered the special FPS Creator Bonanza pack which includes the Tutorial DVD's and are very disappointed.

It seems that the quality of the DVD media disks used to burn the tutorials on is so poor that the videos barely play or get stuck in the middle of playback. I am playing them on a notebook DVD player that I NEVER have any problems with playing DVD movies (2-3 per day) as I work.

Also, it seems that I can't play them in my small all-in-one DVD player as you can't navigate the menu system without a mouse.

I have been a FPSC customer for about 2 years now and I am very suprised and diappointed that the tutorials have been done so cheaply that they are almost completely useless.

We got a great $ deal on the bundle and I really like TGC products, but if this is an example of the tutorials quality, we won't be buying any more of them in the future.

My tutorial disk won't play at all! Are anymore people having trouble with the tutorial disks?

I havent tried it, I dont want it. Is it just me, or is TGC bad with customer service and this sort of thing?

Haven't tried my Bonanza version of the DVD but my other one I ordered earlier works fine.

Look for me on CoD4 online for PC. My username's Arbiquator (strange I know but it's the first thing that came to mind)

I got my Bonanza pack within two weeks of purchase and really am happy with the service I received.

The dvds don't work properly on my laptop but do on my dvd player which a bit of an annoyance.

These tutorials are on YouTube though, just watch them on there.

Maybe the disks are PAL and not NTSC (for those of you in the US).

Just a thought,

I too can't play the DVD's(Dell laptop).I thought I could use them as a reference while working on a level if I needed them.I bought the pack because of the great price.I live in the US.
I'm not very happy...
You can download(YouTube Downloader), the tutorials from YouTube and convert them to use Media Player or what ever you use.

JRH, thats a clever thought. While I was in the Netherlands over the summer, I resisted buying games because A: They were the same in Euros as they were in American (60 euros for one game WTF) Also B: I have no support for PAL on my 360, I assume.

PAL and NTSC are tv formats.

Yes but games are also classified in this way. NTSC games won't play on PAL systems and vice versa... You can get software/hardware which allows you to do so. Some games which are 'region free' will play on any system.

@nikas:

Here is the difference from a technical point of view :
http://www.high-techproductions.com/pal,ntsc.htm

normally on the PC the difference is touching the FPS ( Frame Per Second (30 for NTSC and 25 for PAL and this is relevant for the electricity frequency type (50Hertz PAL) (60Hertz NTSC) )

Another difference is the Resolution type for digital media

- 352 x 288 pixels (PAL VCD Quality - MPEG ), 352 x 240 pixels (PAL VCD Quality - MPEG )
- 720 x 576 pixels (PAL DVD Quality - MPEG-II), and 720 x 480 pixels (NTSC DVD Quality - MPEG-II)
- for the High Definition version both resolution are almost the same 1920 x 1080 pixels and this is for the 16:9 aspect ration ( wide screen )

Quote: "What?!"

Thanks for looking into it, even though I don't have the tut disc.

Can u open the directory of the disc? or does it not respond all together, as mentioned above in your quote.

WHAT THE....!!! After days of trying to get the disks to work with no joy and expressing my disappointment in a post above, the disks now work!! I've no idea why or how so I must apologise for the harshness of the retracted post above that was directed at TGC.

@deca: When I first received them I tried for days to get them to work with no joy so I just left them, your post made try again (to open the disk) but as soon as I put it in it worked as it should, very odd!

Glad to hear.

You got me thinking now, I remember an old pc game I had would do the same so to speak. I would have to reopen the drive and turn the disc. Re-peat the process until the drive would find the correct spot to read from. Who knows the game may have had a scratch.
