3D World Studio / Registering "Could not connect"

I purchased 3d world studio and I tried to register but it says that it cannot connect to the main server. is their server down or is it a problem on my end?

I am running windows 7 64 bit.
I am behind a school firewall.
Are there ports that need to be opened for this to work?
