I did not even see a board for this product.
would someone who owns it give me the good & bad points of using it
and tell me how it actually works?
I would also like to know how it connects whether the person has to own their own server for games they create or if they can simply connect to the net to host a game , ect... so little info about this product and no board leaves me very skeptical about its price.
Does anyone here own it ?

I own it but I would wait for the next release as the graphics and script editor have nothing to show atm.

Why not try a Realm Crafter forum?

This forum is for TGC products, just because TGC sells it, does not mean it has to maintain a forum for it - considering to use the product you have to sign up to the official forum anyway.

I bought it last week, mainly for the kids to use, but haven't had the chance to even install it yet. I think though, that it works by having a server application, so this might be on your own PC, in a server bank somewhere, or as some people might prefer, a cheap server in your house. Anyway, you would distribute a client program that people use to log into your server. So as long as your server is running, people should be able to log into your game. Your PC though is the place where your server is most likely to be - you'd run the server application, then run the game on the same PC, it's probably not a big performance concern as long as you have a reasonable PC.

The price is pretty good I think, I always think that a package like Realm Crafter can justify it's price in the amount of time you spend on it - if you get into it and like it more than you would like 2 new games, then your onto a winner. Really I have lost count of the number of hours I've spent on packages like DBPro, if I spent as much time on games then my XB360 gamer score would be about 10 times what it is .

My plan is to set the kids upon it, and if they get into it I'll make media and scripts to support their game idea. If it pans out I'd probably get Realm Crafer Pro, which is not out yet but uses a better engine, better graphics and faster, and not using Blitzmax, and just more and better of everything. I imagine there will be a discount though for RC1 users.

I'm going to try a different pc and see if it errors out on it. I really liked what I saw, but the big question to me is at this point is whether or not the file will install and run. and I think its a new demo file because the size is a couple hundred meg larger than reported on the download link at TGC.
-----update----
Epic failure -
redownload to see if that fixed it - no go
3 more attempts on 3 different pc's to get the demo to work. hope somebody else had better luck
??
If i cant get the demo to work on anything , I wont be buying the full version

The demo appears to be out of date, or broken, either way I don't think there's any point in downloading it. I will check the forum to see if there's another demo you can download.

I got the official download and the media pack, and it all works perfectly. I haven't done too much with it, but I think that's because it seems very straightforward and there's nothing that I'm too concerned about. In fact the only thing that I wasn't looking forward to is getting models into Realm Crafter, but it's actually a piece of cake with what I use - see it takes .X and .B3D models, which CharacterFX exports perfectly, so it shouldn't be any harder to make characters for it than for DBPro or any other engine out there. Personally I don't love the level geometry that you get, it seems so cardboard and mundane and I don't think it's a good idea to adopt this engine without modeling skills. The characters though are nice, low polygon models that you can re-texture with whatever clothes you want, so are much more useful IMO. I think there's a couple of very obvious niggles, like the characters walking animation, but if you look at Realm Crafter as an engine, and not a straightforward drag-n-drop game creator, then it makes more sense.

Hi Van, thanks for answering. how well does it work on the server side of things , as in can you make a game and serve from your pc to others or are you required to have an actual server ?
