I am running FPS Creator and now have changed to VISTA. Do I need to buy FPS CreatorX10 or is there an update?
I am getting tired of changing my user control every time I switch from 3D Canvas to FPS Creator. (One wants it on and the other wants it off).

No, but maybe a re-installlation of FPSCreator-X9 would help...

Asking on the FPSC forums would be nice, but using the search feature would be even better.

No, the normal FPSC runs on Vista fine from what I know.

Thanks.
I have reinstalled it 3-4 times already.
I will try the search function. Usually, I just look down the forums for the question to have been asked already.

There might be something specific to vista that you have to do, maybe run it in Admin mode or XP compatibility, it'll be something like that.

I think I remember hearing that that is true

I think if you change permissions of the main program folder so that users have read/write/execute set, FPSC won't ask you to turn UAC off.

That, and you also have to install DirectX 9...

I though Vista already had DirectX 9. Or have I missed something?

It might, but not one functional with FPSC X9. If you install/reinstall DX9, it'll work fairly well. Not as smooth as XP, but it'll run. Windows 7, on the other hand... The editor is slower than molasses and doesn't recognize that you've clicked half of the time. But I guess that's what I get for trying out a RC of a new OS. That's actually what started me looking into VMware. I'm running XP, Ubuntu and 7 all on the same machine...

Anyway... Back to the issue at hand. Installing DX9, along with turning off UAC and running as administrator will allow you to run X9 in Vista.

LOL you run vista with UAC on?

Go to start->control panel->Administrative tools->System Configuration->Tools and look for "Disable UAC". You'll need to restart for the changes to work, but Vista shouldn't ask you for Administrative priveleges constantly/

UAC Control prevents a lot of programs from working, but yea. You might want to turn it off then try again with out UAC on, it helps if the UAC control is off.

XP Compatibility mode fixed it.
Maybe I should do that with 3D Canvas also.
Thanks everyone.

It doesn't anyway if you know what you're doing.

You must not have 3D Canvas and Vista. I cannot find a compatibility mode for it or it would probably work.

Switching in On Prevents DBP from running. Even in the XP compatibility mode.

That worked.
To run BOTH 3D Canvas and DB Pro on Vista 32 you need to make certain you do not install DBP in the Programs Folder. (e.g. Make a sepatate folder cB Pro/Dark Basic Professional) This takes it out of the Programs folder and you can run it with the User Control set to allow 3D Canvass to run otherwise, you will have to change that setting and restart your computer every time you go from one program to the other.
(See the link above in Hockeykid's post.)
Thanks.
