Hi everyone, I'm stuck between which program to buy between x9 and x10. I don't mind the price difference or anything, but things i know already is that x10 has better graphics, and x9 has more in-game props. I just want to know which one to buy between the two, I just want a straightforward answer and also reasoning. Thanks! Oh yeah, and a couple more short questions: 1) can x10 do more than just sci-fi futuristic themes? 2) can you buy x9 model packs for x10, or do they work for both? 3) for multiplayer games, which one is easier, and or more fun for me and my friends to play between x9 and x10? Just answering 1 of these questions is fine if you dont know the answers to the other questions, I need as much help as I can get!!! Please Help!!!

X9. Definately. X10 might be a bit of fun for a while but it soon ends up sucking. X9 has mods, support, and is faster.

X9. All model packs work in X9, most work in X10 now, X10 can do any theme if you make the models for it, i think they would be the same for multiplayer games although i dont have X10 so i dont know. X9 is better because it will work on most PCs but X10 will only work on Vista and with a decent graphics card which supports DX10.

And like toasty fresh said, X9 Has many mods which add a range of new features and also performance is better, and to be honest, if you put the effort and time into making a game, you can make it look as good visually as an X10 game...

So yeah X9 Definitely!!!

If budget is not an issue and you have the required spec I would recommend getting X10 as the question here should be which is the better engine long term rather than how many people meet the minimum recommended spec right now.

1)X10 can do any theme as can X9 with custom content. Both come with sci-fi and ww2 out of the box (X10 has some exclusive content).

2)Using the latest X10 update all model packs can be used. Some require minor tweaking.

3)X9 for gameplay (using a mod), X10 for graphics.

X10 is faster. It uses a timer based system and GPU instancing which X9 does not have. Also X10 uses the full performance available with your GPU and RAM. There is also good support from the X10 users and the source code will be released once DBPro X10 is public.

X10 has fully working normal and specular texture mapping for segments which has not been made possible in X9 (even with mods) so that is not the case.

If you haven't already got the hardware for X10 then X9 will more than satisfy you with the various mods out there. If you have the hardware for X10 and want to get the most out of FPSC from a graphics, performance and AI perspective get X10.

well... my mod has also Parallax and Relief Mapping working on Segments so its not true ^^

but it is not released because of the overall performance because of some other stuff in it.

You can apply parallax or relief mapping shaders onto segments using VANILLA FPSC X9! It's been done before, just like the water shader someone made for vanilla FPSC.

CoZ managed to apply all fancy parallax and relief shaders to segments.I have both X9 and X10 and I dont use X10,just seems stupid to use two FPSC's.But ill definately use X10 features once migration comes.

Yeah, but the way he did it was the way Ertlov came up with, and that was by making the segment walls entities, which still isn't the same as segments.

And since when has anybody done a parallax map or relief map in FPSC? I have yet to see it. It's all been normal mapping.
