In my current project I require mesh morphing to allow single meshes to have dynamic shapes. I've tried using morph points that consist of varying meshes but that is kinda tedious for what I need and making an animated mesh that also has the morph points isn't quite working well, I'd rather spend time somewhere else than on this code. I then tried using skeletal animation and that works very well and is a bit easier and more intuitive ( one skeleton for morphs and one for animations). Would the Enhanced animations plugin benefit me in this endeavor? Am I reinventing the wheel or does something already exist for this? I don't need something as complex as a character/avatar creation system but that's the closest thing to what I'm doing that I can think of... I just need similar meshes to have dynamically sized parts and would like to cut my already long production time down a bit.

Try this:

I've done it with some models of my own, works great! I use CharacterFX (free animation software) to put a skeleton in the model, bind the skin, and then export it as a .X. You can load the .X model in DarkBASIC and manipulate the limbs with the limb commands.

Diggsey: I have a spine and memory, but one memorable guy says he hates me. What am I?

That is the second method I mentioned. Only I said skeleton and not limbs so I wasn't clear. Something about only having scale, position and rotation leaves me a bit limited though. Maybe I just need to play with vert weights more.

I was looking for something structured like a plugin just to save the time. I think I need the enhanced animations anyway, just to allow for the mixing of animations and more control over animations in code... if how I think the plugin is used is correct it should be helpful. If anyone has an example or experience to share about how that plugin could help with dynamic limbs or parts in an object I would love to see/read it.

I'll try CharacterFX. I need something to help me get rigged and animating better... I lack severely in these two departments. Modeling is fine but the other parts... eh, not so much. Thanks for the tips.
