http://3drockstar.com/creating-realistic-fire-using-particles-in-3ds-max/

I needed to create a fire effect without the need to buy a plug in, i think After-effects or After-burn, are the best in the market. But thier quite expensive. So as i said i went about looking for a fire effect using max's particles,

I found it one along with a few other tutorials, So i thought id share.

Oh theres the slight catch, if any one knows a better option other than this to create realistic fire please dont hesitate to refer me lol. Well i thought giving a little to the community before requesting something would be a fair trade.

The reason am asking is i need it for a 10 minute animation so photoshoping frames wouldn't really be a option lol. Am still developing the models but storyboarding along with alot of design sketchs are done. I have six weeeks off so i plan on getting this finished.

thxs for any help
cheers -cb

There are a list of tutorials here. I don't know if they will be any help.
But if its for comping an animatation short then I think After effects is your best option. But it sort of depends on what sort of animation it is.

For example if you are using real footage along with visual effects to create this short then after effects is your best option. It is easy to Comp with real footage and will look alot more natural. Also there are tones of ways of doing it to get a realistic effect.

However if you are doing a fully animated short with everything being CG then creating the fire within the program you are using is probably best as it will fit in with the rest of the scene. But even then it still depends on your art style within the scene.

Hope this helps!
