I got dx9.0b installed. I got the developer's sdk for the same version also. My previous version of dbpro worked fine but ever since I installed patch 5, most of the .x meshes of the samples don't show up, spherical mapping of the spaceship sample became weird, etc etc etc.

The compiler is lightspeed fast, but some graphical features went nuts.
I guess a patch 5.0a will be necessary.

I haven't installed p5a so i know nothing of the possible bugs. But if i understand correctly its still a beta. So you WILL encounter problems.

@Digital Sun: I got exactly the same problem. I got an Nvidia Quadro4 750XGL card and I have the same problems and errors you are getting. I also tried dbpro with my other card (geforce 4 ti 4600) and the same things occurred. As you, I got the latest drivers for my mobo and video card, the latest SP for windows, the latest version of DX. Before the patch, things were working perfectly. Have youbeen able to sort out this problem?

@Aryus Myst: Patch 5 is no longer beta. It became official on august 20, so when you run it you don't get a "beta" watermark, and it won't expire like the beta used to warn.

It was a bit quiet. I only noticed it myself yesterday, so it put me behind on releasing the latest C++ interface library.

@afecelis
Lee Bamber noticed this problem so he wrote me:

Quote: "Please email me a brief account of the bug to remind me which one, and I will send you some tests to find out what is [email protected]"

I suggest you to make the same!!!
At the moment i'm waiting these tests from Lee.
Can you tell me what is your hardware configuration?

Okay, I've also got some minor FX problems. I got DX9 and the drivers, now with U5 all the programs/examples go much slower and I cannot get the U5 collection and FX mini browser examples working. As soon as I run them it exits and says "Cannot create vertex shader at line ***". Any suggestions?

NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440
MEDIONPC
40.01 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
6.58 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space

Theoretically, I should be OK, but I'm not.

MX cards don`t support anything but software shaders, I have one and had the same problems and spoke to them about it, seems like all the shader descriptions on the box are misleading (by accident of course..far be it from me to suggest that false claims are being inferred in the descriptions), you can`t run the FX shaders and even some of the default effects don`t work, I reported this and they plan some support for older cards when P6 comes out, or at least thats what Lee said.
it may be (naturaly this is just a theory, I wouldn`t say anything was factual and hence put myself in a legal position, so this is just supposition) the Ge force4 MX is actualy an older Nvidia Geforce 2 renamed to clear the old stock as something more modern, they could (supposing this was the case) have just told the truth and sold them as Geforce2`s without hardware shaders, but that wouldn`t have made them sell as well, would it?, just a theory.
