Could everyone run regedit and check:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER->SOFTWARE->MICROSOFT->DIRECTINPUT

Does it have a ton of registry folders for all of your dbp things. I have about 100 per project that I have ever compiled.

Yikes, I really have had DBPro installed for a long time, that appears to be 1 entry for every compile, seems about 500 or so compiles per project and about 50 projects... That's a whole lotta mess in my registry.

Whoh it looks like it's writing mapping instructions in the registry (as in key mapping, not the matrix kind )

i think its DX9 which is doing this whenever a programm starts any direct input things ...

because WC3 and games like it don't have an entry since they don't use direct input ...

Use regedit to delete it. The disk space is probably utterly insignificant. Think how many hundreds of entries you could fit in just 1 MB.

Insert standard disclaimer about bolloxing up your PC if you get trigger happy with the delete command, etc.

Why does this happen though? Could it be fixed? I think it is pretty rediculous to have to keep gpong into your registry and do house cleaning after using pro for a while.

Messy messy. As Rich said though, it's insignificant disk space, it's no big deal. Might it actually be a DirectX thing and not related to DBP? It's in DirectInput after all.

Probably does it when DirectX initialises - it does it with all DirectX games - GTA, Tony Hawks 3, Virtua Tennis etc.

It doesn't take up any disk space... The registry has a max size and it will ALWAYS be that size no matter how much stuff is in there... Somewhere in windows you can set this "max size" and see how much is used of the max size (in XP), but I don't remember where. BTW it's nothing to worry about. After using my computer for about a year my registry was about 15MB and it was about 10 when I first installed windows...

EDIT: BTW. The registrys max size is normally 32MB
