Here is my flag:

It is 100% custom, and I would like some comments. I am about to put it in some tests, so I would like a bit of criticism...

Um... OK, well, if you're making a game that takes place in M-Land, then it's OK. The overlapping boxes don't look too nice, though.

WINNER list:
Latch, Lee Bamber, TDK, TheComet
Thanks for the help!

There are only 2 boxes, and they are not touching. 0.o

M = Maindric.

It is more for testing out what I can do with the cloth plugin that is now included with DBPro.

The cloth texture is way to hard and vivid. If you look at a flag, it appears smooth, not rough. Also, to be honest, most flags don't have another box with their crest on the outside of the flag. It just looks strange. They also don't have gradients on their stripes.

I shall fix that.

Strange, but sets it apart from other flags, making it more unique (imo).

Quote: "They also don't have gradients on their stripes."

Another thing I was trying to do to make it look unique. I could make it not so gradient looking, but that makes it look to USA -ish..

It would look neat with the "M" as the top layer.

I tried that, but it looked odd...

I will change it up a bit tomorrow, after I restart this comp.. Tis getting laggy.

IMO it would look better minus the two little boxes...just the red fabric and the M.

I was bored so I made my own version of your flag. I did notice that the last stripe on your flag is smaller than the rest. I had to increase the size to 600x405 to make it the same size stripe.

Hm.. Hearing all these crits have made me wanna make a few copies. I plan on making an animation with that flag for intro to games, and the boxes play into that. I made a version without the boxes, and it does not really fit.

@Grog
Not bad. I may make on like that.

EDIT

Here is a flag not using gradients as strips, smaller squares, but 4 of them, and the thread detail is lowered.

Here is the first flag slightly edited.

Squares removed, and the thread lowered.

(This one cannot be used due to the fact that the font I used for the 'M' is not on this comp.)

I am in the process of making the first one into vectors and animating it in Anime Studio 5 (Bought it before it went free, darn it, and this is my first time doing something with it that is more than just a test.) This is my idea:

Add a 4-way symmetrical design into the squares, and animate them to match as the four squares go to the middle of the image. They will meet, showing the symetricalness, and then go left and right, depending on the side, and all that will remain is 'Maindric' in that same font.

I WANT to do a 3d like animation before it goes to the part I just described and have the flag straighten up before it shows the 2D animation, but I doubt I will be able to do that.

Sounds like a neat idea. I would like to see it in action! From what it sounds, it would be a cool intro to a game, or a logo played before the game. Like: Flag animation -> 'Maindric' -> 'Production presents...'

There's something in this room that makes you can't speak well.

Thats the plan.

Here it is in vector form...

(Ignore the non AA and the editor marks, those will be removed from final product.)

Here is a .avi of the animation so far...

My thoughts:
1) I am still thinking about the 3D flag idea at the beginning...
2) Adding "Presents" under "Maindric" in smaller text that is slightly glowing.

And suggestions?

The problem with some of your flags is that you have baked impossible light sources into them. The ones with the stripes have been turned into shutters by the light working individually on each stripe. Light is hitting the top of each shutter, and creating a light glow downwards in a circle.

The other problem is the strong texture. It's still too strong, and most likely too large as well.

I don't have a problem however with the gradient colour theme.

What do you mean by that? The size you see is the size they were made at, unless you mean something else....

They were not meant to look like lights, but more of a design of how the lights work. I left that flag alone though..

I said the texture was too large, not the flag.

They might not be meant to look like lights, but they do look like lights anyway. And you did it with 2 flags, not 1.

And why did you say that you can't use the 'M', you have posted it here so you can use that flag from save as.

I was bored so I spiffed up a flag I found in this thread.

@n008

Nice, not bad.

@Pincho

I cannot use it because I was at my father's house and the font I used was not on the computer on my computer.

I did it with one flag, the two you are talking about are the same, just slightly different in it's own right.

That 1 flag edited is so different it is 2 flags.

What has the M being on your computer got to do with anything?

Have you seen the animation I put it. I needed more characters in the animation and without access to fitting letters, I had to change the ones I used.

I still plan on using the second one as a flag in some way, but the main use makes it not look so flag-ish.

Aaaah a big yellow M on a red background! I'm having flashbacks...
I like the one with the four boxes in the corners. I don't like the shuttered one, I don't like it at all. So there
