I went to bed at around 1:30am and when I woke up this morning my desk has knife marks all over it, below my laptop, etc as well! WTFFFFFF??!?!? Pics:







So there are 3 main theories:

a) Someone came in in the night and moved my stuff to cut my desk up
b) Poltergeist
c) My desk broke up for no reason (wear and tear?) and made knife marks in the MDF below the top layer

I have set up my camera to take pictures every 30 seconds (and it is not those "ghost cctv footage" which is very grainy, its a digital camera 5mp). Hopefully this b*stard will be caught by it

I'd say it might have been thermal shock or just the material being under a lot of tension and eventually breaking but if there are "knife marks in the MDF below the top layer" then I guess you can discount those.

Have you by any chance got an alien cube that will turn all electronic devices into robots to take over the universe? It could have affected your laptop, and the first evil thing your laptop did is remove the glue and cut a bit. Just a theory...

Your desk was made from the coffin of Screetchy McNifestab, a notorious mass murderer. He killed his victims with a kitchen knife and was hung for 14 counts of murder.
After he was buried many people spoke of hearing scratching noises coming from his grave. They dug up his coffin and he broke out with knife in hand and escaped!
Afterwards they decided they might as well use the wood to make a desk. "waste not, want not"

It's unlikely somebody moved your stuff and cut up your desk in that pattern and moved everything back in exactly the same positions. I think it's natural. If somebody did it with a knife you'd see gouges in the particleboard too.

It broke in just the areas that heavy objects are usually sitting along with an area that you use your mouse. The pressure from your hand on the mouse, the monitor, and the laptop worked together to break the desk. The constant stresses finally got to your desks plastic imitation veneer covering.

I actually believe in poltergiests! One time while i was waking up at 7 in the morning (my bed is right beside the stairs)..i could hear light foot steps so i thought it was my little sister going down the stairs, but before you get to the main stairs there is 2 steps that lead up to the next rooms, and as i thought it was my sister i never thought much about it but whenever the stepping noises turned from 2 to 8, i started to get abit freaked out, i turned round and i seen the duvet i was in being pushed down towards me, i was a bit unconvienced it was real so i went downstairs and i was really expecting to see my sister..but i didnt..it was just my dad who was there but he was up Earlier my little sister was still in bed. Doesnt sound that scary but when you actually at the scene experiencing something you cannot really accept is happening its frightening ! *Cowers under a bag of Fizzy Haribos*

The heat modern laptops kick out is absurd. It probably melted the glue. There's a patch on the dining room table where a HP once sat, and it's shinier than the rest because it's melted the varnish.

Years ago i woke up to my computer crashed, and basically the system wiped somehow, the day after I beat diablo 2 and was about to start hardcore mode. I never did get around to beating that again.
