I think it's because the picture is faded and low quality and so looks like an amateur photograph.

Jess T and Vikie Eagle are female (well their names are at least).

I got a girl into game making, we didnt get much done though, but she liked it.

Jess T is not female (or at least, considering he 'girlified' his profile for a short time as a joke a long while back, it's a safe bet he is male. Otherwise it would not have been a joke)

Well, I know for sure it isn't. I mean, I myself am a desert. So that right there proves it.

Some girls play on XBL for the attention! - the actual game comes second, they don't really care how well they do.

But the bottom line is that women play just as much as men - in fact my mom plays more videogames than anyone I know, including me. Her DS is glued to her hand, if she has 10 minutes to kill she plays the DS, if she has 5 hours to kill she plays the DS. She plays through Bubble Bobble pretty much every single day with my sister. When she's not playing the DS, she's playing those weird picture games on the PC.

As for making games, really it is quite rare to find a woman who likes that sort of thing, but when they are into it they are really into it. There doesn't seem to be the same skill dillution compared to males. A woman is either not interested in coding, or they are totally into it, and do well, but as I said that's rare. There are a lot of female artists though; texturing, making models, animating - seems to appeal to women more than code.

Jess can be short for Jessie which is a boys name. But Jess is most commonly used as short for Jessica which is female.

Jess is also an English name, a pretty old one but popular with Cornish farmers for some reason... I don't think Jess is female, but that might be due to reading the name Jessticular which is what he used to have I think - no woman would call herself that .

Not-so-serious persons. If i remember right Jess was sometime interviewed somewhere whit pic and he was he. Tho i may be wrong or miss remember

Btw, Jess sounds really male in here where i live. Anyways i don't suggest you to people still search for every people and info about them if they are Male or not. Some may want to kept their identity hidden

Footballer Teddy Sheringham perhaps?

Jessticular was a bloke, he showed a picture of himself in one of the old 'photo' threads, I remember him being the only other member with dreads (well, I've cut mine off)

seriously? I've met maybe three or four people at my school who are tech savvy, NONE of which are girls. I'm in CA, so all the interesting girls surf (which would be fine if i surfed, or didn't mind sand and water in my laptop). The only girls that use computers are the ones that read every japanese comic book that ever was made and have their own fanfiction.

Only in the early years, then males gently equals and surpass most women later.

There's plenty of them here, but it's a shame none of them are female.

I should have rephrased that... Cause girly geeks could mean males that are just in touch with their feminine side... I meant more female geeks. I feel like i'm a rare species on the endangered list or something strange... Could be thrown into a cage with just a laptop and coffee to survive at any second!

I think a laptop and coffee is sufficient survival gear for any geek, unless of course the coffee doesn't come with a mug, then you'd be in real trouble. Though I'd advise you to keep an eye out for Grandma, you'll know it's him when you see an emperor penguin with a bow tie lays down a red carpet. (Personally I don't know why he does that)

Coffee without a cup would be a bit of a disaster, you're right there... Our USB cup warmers would have no use then

And well, an emperor penguin MUST have a bow tie like a geek MUST have a laptop, it comes with the title I do believe...

Of course you would, you are brilliant, so you can't use own experience as you probably are more mature than most other people around you.
If I remember right, you are kinda young. Of course, I am quite brilliant myself so I've always been more mature than anyone else I know, but it's no use debating it before we have a good definition of "mature". And who's to say what's mature and not?

Yes, mugs are very handy for transporting and storing of liquids, but what does that have to do with our coalition of the unwilling?

*Random trivia time! I don't really drink coffee, never have. What kind of programmer am I!? Find out next week on Process this.

Let's hope not or I need to find a new dating site

Whenever a girl comes on here they get torn to shreds by everyone trying to impress them. Someone came on as waterdrop can't rememeber who that was but it was a guy haha

None of you have realised that I am female!!
The clue is in my name: I'm obese, and I'm 87.

If I was a girl I wouldn't tell anyone, being anonymous is great and means you don't have to wear a bra...

That makes me feel better

On a side note, do those work? My big pet peeve is that I can't drink scalding hot coffee, but I usually end up waiting too long to drink it before it becomes luke-warm and nasty.

@ Jeku: Yes they do work.. But have a really good cup on them cause if you have one thats too thin they crack... So you go into panic mode grabbing your laptop as quick as you can as coffee goes everywhere. Not fun.

I know the feeling! Tastes weird and like metal... Glad it's not just me that gets that...
