Is it possible to use more than one shader per object obviously there would be the matter of the performance drop but i just wanna know if it can be done?

u can put multiple shaders an at the same time, as long as they dont interfere with any other shader, otherwise they overwrite each other... ie: u can use the 'set shadow shading on' and 'set sphere mapping on' at the same time becase they affect different things.

what about for example a reflection shader and a bump map shader?

I am interesting about this subject. But it may be difficult and may fall behind. it is cool -- the combination of Bumpmap and Mirror

I am creating MS HTML HELP of DBPro. If it is completed, translation in other languages will become easy. Don't you participate in this project, either?

you can have upto 4-16 shaders per surface (depending on your graphical hardware) and you have to make sure you pipeline them properly.

For example if you put a Bump Map on something then apply a Reflection it'll look different to a Reflection with Bump Map.
I'd suggest you start with small things, like taking colours and using them to alpha texture layers, add some depth - then move upto possible reflections and such
